It's just a symbol. Some people don't even wear wedding rings. Yeah, I agree, the only thing that matters is that you love eachother. If you want a symbol that people recognize, then wear it there.
I have a friend who wears a fake wedding band so he can get girls to leave him alone. I think that's just crazy...

In North America, most people wear it on the left hand.
However, there are some cultures who wear it on the right hand. My husband is from Eastern Europe, and we wear our rings on the right hand.
from Wiki -
A traditional reason to wear the wedding ring on the right hand stems from Roman custom. The Latin word for left is "sinister", which in addition to this sense also has the same senses as the English word. The Latin word for right is "dexter", a word that evolved into "dexterity". Hence, the left hand had a negative connotation and the right a good one.

whats up there, the left hand is nearer on your heart it relatively is the reason of right this moment, consistent with possibility the vein undertaking is actual and for this reason it is the reason of which finger - do no longer understand In maximum countries the marriage band is worn on the left hand, even in maximum ecu countries. the sole exception i understand is Germany the place the hoop is generally on the best hand. Being from Germany i will say that there is not any specific rule right here which regulates that - humorous as we've policies for almost something ;) - so my husband and that i positioned on it left, because of the fact we like the "heart" thought. interior the tip it is your decision probable in all countries because of the fact the hoop is, from what i understand, no longer genuinely for a marriage, it relatively is "only" a logo. greets Anne

sometimes (such as in my church) the engagement ring goes on the right hand and gets moved over to the left hand in the wedding. It is traditional to wear it on the left hand, these days tradition isn't always stuck to but it is nice to keep with tradition sometimes
good luck

It's because the left ring finger is related to the wedding band. People will not identify you as married or engaged if you wear it on any other finger.

This is just tradition. You don't have to wear a ring at all, and if you choose to wear a ring, you can wear it on any finger you wish. However, having a wedding band on your left ring finger is a sign to anyone who sees you that you are married. If you choose to wear not wear a ring or wear it on a non-traditional finger, then you are sure to be asked why you chose to do this by people who are super-traditional. However, if you don't mind explaining to these people (or ignoring them), then wear whatever you want on whatever finger you want. I hope this is helpful.

They say the reason is, it is closer to the heart. The heart is in the middle of your chest but it is tilted to the left. That is why babies usually like to be in the left side also because their mothers heart beat soothes them.
The veins lead to the heart on both sides. lol http://www.amwa-doc.org/images/heart.jpg

I have a friend who is a musician and she has to wear her rings on her right hand because the rings interfere on her left. Where them wherever you want.

You can, but people won't realize you're married. But there's no law saying you have to have a ring on your left hand. Get ready for people to question you, though, because they will!
