And if so, what was it like?
This is purely out of curiosity :)

Yes. I saved a 10 day old baby (gave him CPR) after a horrid car accident happened right in front of me. It's a very strange feeling- a most wonderful feeling. :)

yes. its way back 2 years ago. I was in practice as a nursing student and Ive notice that one of the patient feet has different color (cyanose, blue like color, means lack of blood flow), than the other. its cold and a little heavy as patient describe.I diffidently think that it is a DVT (deep veins thromboses, a blood cloth in the leg, if it not notice, the blood cloth may stop to the heat or brain, can result to coma or paralyze or even death). As a student i need to report it to the higher position as a student really don't have influence, when you are in practical clinic. Nobody take it seriously. I was really worried about this old lady, but i did what I supposed to do. After 1 day (I was free from work), person ale have to called an emergency transfer coz this patient was suffering from DVT and they gave me right and complement for good observation. The old lady look at me as a hero and because If I did not notice it and make attention for it, she might died or paralyze some part of her body. Its a long story but i have to make it short.

My partner, myself and my mother were eating at a restaurant and I heard a woman's voice at the table behind us get shrill. I looked over and she was asking if an older guy (both couples probably in their late 60s) if he was okay. He didn't answer. His head fell back, his mouth open and gagging sounds from his throat. No one was moving.

I jumped up, pulled his glasses off and listened and he wasn't breathing. I pulled his teeth out and got him out of his chair and onto the floor. My Mom yelled at the waitress to dial 911 while I cleaned his mouth out - yuck. Then I listened, seriously hoping he would start breathing. He didn't.

I sighed and positioned his head (I had CPR training years ago) and THEN a guy stepped forward and said he was an off duty deputy and he could do the chest compressions. JERK! He waited until I was doing the mouth-to-mouth!

We kept it up until the paramedics arrived 4 minutes later and took over. We got the guys name and his name wasn't in the obits so I figure I helped keep him going until the paramedics could save him.

I also volunteered with the Red Cross after Hurricane Katrina - maybe that saved some lives, or at least made some lives a little eaiser.

Someone I know tells me often that I saved their life. But it wasn't all dramatic like in an accident or something. It was regarding support, advice and assistance I gave them over the course of several years while they were dealing with a very serious drug problem. It doesn't really feel like anything to ME, but I'm sure it means a lot to that person. I'm very happy they are ok now.

I was working security and a person was on the roof of the hi-rise. Sitting on the edge! People were afraid he was going to jump. I went up and talked to him. I explained I had to call the cops and why, He understood and the cops came and took him away. His mom called the next day and said I saved his life by quietly talking to him. I didn't think he would jump but it was very nice that his mother thought that I did a good deed.
