Hate to break the news to you who say there are other holidays going on at the Same time as Christmas, and this is the reason people say Happy Holidays instead of Christmas! There is one legal holiday in December, that is Christmas, no others! You liberal politically correct people can't even be honest about your crazyness! This is just hatred of Christians and anything Christian, What a crock of feces. I would respect you people if you would be honest. I do not spend a dime in establishments that marginalize Christmas, the secred holiday of Christians and Catholics. The sillyness is that about 93 percent of people in the USA celebrate Christmas, and the politically correct crowd is worried about offending the small percentage of those who do not celebrate Christmas. Merry Christmas! Why would a business who is dependent on Christmas shoppers to put black ink on their books want to offend them? The answer is hatred of Christians and our Christian Founding! Merry Christmas!

People say "holiday" because there's more than one holiday going on at this time of the year, and people are showing respect for all the people that have something to celebrate.
(Some people have a problem with wishing happiness and showing respect for those outside their own beliefs, for some reason.)

The "Happy Holidays" rather than "Merry Christmas" craze was started by Secular Progressives who fear Christianity and will do anything and everything they can to silence Christians and to prohibit any form of Christian symbolism in this country. They will lose, but they're certainly throwing a lot of weight into their battle.

God bless!

Isn't Christmas a holiday?

I don't think it's bad if people say "holiday" instead of Christmas. It applies to Christmas, AND it applies to other holidays around the same time.

Because not everyone celebrates Christmas. Some of us celebrate Yule (Winter Solstice), some celebrate Hanukkah and other holidays and some celebrate none at all...so why cater to one religion?

Crazy Pirate, I get what you're saying, but please...please...please...once and for all, "Christmas" is NOT a Pagan holiday; YULE (Winter Solstice) is.

During the winter solstice many holidays are taking place and this includes everyone's holiday while trying not to offend anyone but ends up offending everyone... (lol)

Because jewish people and Jewish organizations brought lawsuit after lawsuit throughout the 70's and 80's to keep any vestige of Christian expression out of sight on grounds of separation of church and state, and now reverse themselves on the memorah, which is publicly displayed everywhere, including a park across from the White House. No conflict with separation of church and state there. These sanctions only apply to Christians and Muslims.

because it's politically correct. for whatever reason, people are all-of-a-sudden afraid to say Merry Christmas, because it might offend someone who is Jewish, Muslim, atheist, etc. and doesn't celebrate Christmas.

I personally think that it's stupid. If someone says happy holidays to me, I say Merry Christmas back to them. I'm also less likely to give my business to places that say happy holidays. I celebrate Christmas and the birth of my Savior, and I'm not scared to tell you that for fear of insulting you.

In fact --- Merry Christmas to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Christianity isn't the only religion in the world. Other people don't really want crucifixes and baby Jesuses shoved in their faces every where they go. I think happy holidays is better. It keeps things relaxed and anonymous and does not push one belief system.
