Can you get disability or SSI from having "chemo brain". My mother has chemo brain and she said there's no way she could ever hold a job with it.

While I completly understand and know what she is going through, people who have never been there often debate the legitamacy of chemo brain.

If she can prove the chemo has caused brain damage (scans and such) she probably can. If she cant prove brain damage, she may not be able to.

She needs to talk to her docs to get the appropriate testing to prove damage. She also needs to get hooked up with a hospital social worker or disability lawyer (if not both) that will help her sort out the laws and policies.

And it would be disability, not ssi.

She needs to discuss it with her doctor(s). It is a long grueling process, but may be worth it for her in the end. After speaking to her doctors come on back or e-mail me - I will be more then happy to lead you through. Many doctors do not have the time to do this and if you are not careful, well lets just say, the system is not set up in your favor. I have been on disability for four long years due to having Lupus.

I don't think so. She would have to show objective findings as to why she could not do any work.
