Bergen County (Teaneck, Englewood, Closter) but I personally prefer Westchester. Yonkers is fine but avoid SW Yonkers. I would live in the area near Cross County Mall, Bronx River Road, Bronxville, Tukahoe, Scarsdale (Central Ave) or even Mount Vernon area (near Sanford Blvd.) and Pelham.

if you're young with no kids I would opt for Hoboken, or Newport City, if you have a family and children I would look in Bergen Cty, and/or Montclair (check the school system)
Good Luck

NJ shore, Ocean County or south; home prices have dropped sharply and its a great place to live; beautiful beachs/boardwalks and very quiet winters.
