if you do... why?
if you don't why?
and Why is it that when we disagree with someone who does or doesn't, do we try and push our religion or our beliefs on them?

But I want you to know something, this is sincere, I want you to know, when it comes to believing in God, I really tried. I really tried. I tried to believe that there is a God, who created each of us in His own image and likeness, loves us very much, and keeps a close eye on things. I really tried to believe that, but I gotta tell you, the longer you live, the more you look around, the more you realize, something is messed up.

Joe Shmoe: I completely agree with your statement of keeping it out of our schools or curriculum etc. To me if you want to believe in such a "god" character go right ahead..
As for some of you who say I do believe in god... What if i i told you that the bible was created by man? which it was... but you were really following someone else's morals or steps instead of your own? Why not open up and live your own life? Make your own mistakes... Find out what you can do without following the bible"
A wise Christian once told me:
People just need answers to questions like what happens when I die? Why do I suffer so much etc. The bible in it's neat little compact form answers those questions. It's like a sacred canopy to protect the weak minded. It may not be the answers for an Atheist or someone who believes in a spiritual existance

Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!

It seems that really all these people are looking for is some of those answers... and without those answers... there is nothing to show.
ZAMMIA: as for this Divine.. Divine Plan... And I say, fine. Pray for anything you want. Pray for anything, but what about the Divine Plan?
The Divine Plan. Long time ago, God made a Divine Plan. Gave it a lot of thought, decided it was a good plan, put it into practice. And for billions and billions of years, the Divine Plan has been doing just fine. Now, you come along, and pray for something. Well suppose the thing you want isn't in God's Divine Plan? What do you want Him to do? Change His plan? Just for you? Doesn't it seem a little arrogant? It's a Divine Plan. What's the use of being God if every run-down shmuck with a two-dollar prayerbook can come along and **** up Your Plan?

And here's something else, another problem you might have: Suppose your prayers aren't answered. What do you say? "Well, it's God's will." "Thy Will Be Done." Fine, but if it's God's will, and He's going to do what He wants to anyway, why the **** bother praying in the first place? Seems like a big waste of time to me! Couldn't you just skip the praying part and go right to His Will? It's all very confusing.

JOHNBLEASSED01: i do not laugh at what you have said or typed... therefore i find you have a very interesting argument...
If god created what stands with us today... where did the animals come from? Dinosaurs, saber tooth tigers and so .. on.. and on... i didn't just choose those animals particularily...
Are you saying he gave "Jesus" all of these things? Wouldn't it be better to call your examples more " God like" not that this "god" or a "god" created these things?

JOHNBLEASSED01: again... i still wonder as to how you can beleive in something you haven't seen, yet only read about...
This bible i beleive was to be created to lead people... and for some reason became a gigantic religion..
If it were for religion... wouldn't we all be the same? If "god" was not invented or shown to us, would that make us differentially uncontrolable?

I believe in Him because when I hated Him most He loved me most and caused me to be born again through faith in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, at the time I least expected it and did not even know it was possible.
He lifted me out of a dark pit of despair and hopelessness and filled my heart with peace and love and joy and hope and understanding.
This was more than 37 years ago, and I know I shall be with Him forever in His Kingdom.
read what He did for this man:

this world we live in is only temporary no matter what you see in this world that's bad it's the work of the devil and everything is good but don't worry god has a plan and life is just his test for us don't worry keep believeing in him I know life is horrible but it really is nothing other
yes I BElieve in god because you have to first get a relationship with him and experience him and know that he's there if bad things didn't happen than that wouldn't give people oppurtunites to do good
religion is man made it all about your personal relationship with god those people who do that stupid stuff are wasting their time trying to force their religion on someone people need to find htier own light and not be force upon a lgiht of others
LIFE IS ONLY BAD BECAUSE OF BAD PEOPLE

I do believe in God.
Why. Because it gives me a centering, a foundation and then forces me to look beyond myself and my own little world. It provides me with good foundations for ethics, and I find religions fascinating especially in relation to human development and history.
I do not try to "push" my religious beliefs on anyone. If someone wants to talk about them I will. I can discuss theology without attempting to convert. I am flexable and say I can go along with you on this or that but I have my line where I say no I can not go any further while I may explain why to people I don;t try to force them to my side of the line.
EDIT:Thumbs down? And judging by your edit you really didn't want sincere answers, only ones you could mock or degrading ones that you can say "YES" too.

No. Why not? Because there is no rational, logical or physical evidence of his existence. Moreover - the "religions" who claim there *is* a god have so many contradictions, false prophets, hypocrites, and deluded nutwacks as adherents, that it'd be enough to scare ANYONE with even half a brain away from them.
I don't try and push my belief system on others - and I don't think most atheists do. HOWEVER - we DO rebell when religious types try and force their false beliefs and morals down our throats.
Keep your religion in your church. Keep it out of our laws, our courts, our schools. AND - if you TRY and bring your morality into play, then be set for us to expect YOU to live up to EVERY SINGLE ITEM in your fairy-tail books. (ie - if you believe in the Bible, you can't eat pork or shrimp or lobster or clams EVEN IF YOU'RE A CHRISTIAN).
I mean, after all, it's only fair. If you want ME to live up to your rules - YOU DO TOO!

I can certainly understand why you find it difficult to believe in God. Without an understanding of the purpose of earth life, you're left with many confusing questions such as why bad things happen to good people. Fortunately there are answers.
Prior to birth we lived as spirit children of our Heavenly Father. Because of his love for us, his children, he prepared this earth to further our growth and development. Essentially he sent us away to school to gain understanding through experiences. Sometimes it's not possible to understand something just because it's explained to you.
For example, I tell my children to love and serve one another. I hope they'll obey, but they will come to appreciate this principle of happiness as they develop a loving relationship with their siblings and with others.
God wants something far grander than blind obedience. He wants us to understand truth as he understands it.
This isn't just speculation on my part. Once again there are prophets of God on the earth helping us understand these things. There are some great videos at the web site below that go into more detail.

I don't believe in God because nothing I've ever seen, read, heard or experienced has convinced me that God is real and I think the philosophical arguments for God's existence are fallacious.
People are always looking for justification to control other people, and religion provides easy reasons.

Yes, I believe in Jesus Christ. When ever I pray and stay close with god my life goes so much better than when I fall away. I would never push my beliefs on anyone but it's when people are down is when they finally look for hope in god.

I don't because there is no proof and I believe bible's were just written way back in the day to be guidelines for people and keep them in line because they were a lot more gullible back then and if the people that wrote the bibles saw that we still believed them today with all the technology and knowledge we have now they would laugh in our ignorant, fearful little faces.

I am not sure to be honest. But even if there is a god he is not someone that I would want to pray to and worship. The reason I say that is because if he is such a good god why does he allow all of the evil in this world to go on?

I don't believe in "god". I was given a choice by my athiest parents on what religon I wanted to be. History wise, I'm Jewish, but in fifth grade I just knew that I hated the idea of religon, and that I would never be able to believe in this "god". And I've been athiest ever since.
