Its easy in California. I am assuming you already have a guard card issued by BSIS. You need to take a two day class at any BSIS licensed facility and pass the test. You will then get your gun card in the mail.

You must have your guard card and firearm card on your possession to carry, and California only allows you to carry to and from work and to and from the range. If you need more info you can go to http://www.CaliforniaSecurityNews.com or to http://www.bsis.ca.gov/

I hope this helps.

The question is not too clear, but I'll try to help. To carry a weapon that is not concealed ("open carry") you just need to buy a firearm and have it be registered to you with the PD. When you carry, always have it "open" and have the blue card with you. To have the "permit" to have it concealed ("Concealed Carry") you must take a class, usually $150 ish, and pass. This class includes a test of you with your firearm and a knowledge test. The test in Cali is hard. You may wish to find another state that you can test in that is transferrable to CA. For more info, check with your local PD. You may not even need to test if you, as a security guard, will always have it open. What type of piece anyways?

Like say for example, you go to work at 3am every day. You are in constant danger from the "snatchers".
