well actually they sent the packet out the day before the deadline and i received it after the deadline date

Talk to your HR people. If you have the envelope and it has the date on it that it was sent, all the better - under those circumstances they should work with you.

Did you coworkers get theirs on time?

You will have to wait until the next open season, which varies from company to company. If there is a HR manager where you work, they would be able to help you a lot better with this than any of us can.

You can go to HR and beg. Don't be surprised if they tell you too bad, so sad.

Next time, pay attention to deadlines.

There is nothing you can do. You were given just as much notice as other employees. It was your responsibility to act. I'm guessing there are probably some default coverages for some plans, that's all you will get for the next year.

Go to H.R. and raise hell. If that doesn't work, go over their heads.
