Fox News just reported that 20 out of 29 veterans charities are actually failing their missions. Out of 256 BILLION dollars collected last fiscal year American veterans have seen less then a 1/3 of that money. The husband and wife team of "Help Hospitalized Vets" collected over $540,000 salary. While our veterans go homeless. I have listed the charities mentioned on Fox News. PLEASE email them your views. A quick Google search gave all their email addresses easily.

AMVETS National Foundation Services
Military order of the Purple Heart
The Freedom Alliance
Help Hospitalized Vets

Please email them how disgraceful their actions are. American might not agree on a lot, but we do hate being ripped off.

THANKS!!!

Every so called charitable organization is a rip off, one of the primary of which is Unicef.

I agree that our Vets deserve better, but writing letters has never changed the tide of any war.

My big cause is to eliminate those damn solicitous girl scouts that annoy me anytime I want to go grocery shopping. What a stupid idea to prostitute scouts in the sale of cookies to total strangers.

Where does that money go to?

It truly is appalling the waste we see in these agencies. But when you realize the size and scope of their services and how big they are, you realize there has to be huge waste and fraud involved. I think we need watchdogs watching the watchdogs, what do you think? I applaud your courage to spread the word on this appalling situation. I responded yesterday to a question about sending wounded recovering soldiers Christmas cards at Walter Reed Army Hospital. I though that was a wonderful gesture. I am sure it would cheer up many lonely GIs who probably can't be home for the holidays.

This is nothing new, many charities are just that rip offs. No matter what the cause, they spend 98% on overhead (which includes salaries, perks and bennies)

Here is where you can go to get the facts and figures on any charity, it will change your mind about donations.

Okay this is going to sound kind of wrong but you didn't give me enough stats to get me through the first stats. Yes of course help veterans, but with what and how, and how do these charities contribute their money. It's just my grand father was on of the first people to use the GI bill when he got back from Langley airfield, so it's more complex than those few stats.

Love when this info comes out on these so called charities.
Think all tax exempt entities, religious & non, should be compled to publish there money intake and expenduters on a quarterly basis. Be a real eye opner for allot of Americans.

There are three military-affiliated charities that are not engaged in that sort of behavior. In the wake of the attack on America, they were never mentioned once in the media blitz and fund-raising telethons. They are: Army Emergency Relief, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society and Air Force Aid Society. Links to their web sites are in the source box below.
If you have to give to help support those who serve, give to one of them.

I do not donate simply because the money NEVER goes to the charity, etc.

so why is this any different? I'm not surprised.
