when i was a child friends of my parents sold everything and moved to Holland, they took a cruise to get there, I remember seeing them off and going on the ship, they gave us their cat. I just thought it was cool.

It is a very good idea and a cruise aboard a ship going to Europe IS NOT boring, Trust Me, I have done it. You will meet lots of good people on Board!
