The IV is a injection and then they will keep the airway open to remove the teeth. I had all four removed, took one hour for each as the roots were twisted around my jaw so they had a wee bit of jaw to remove as well. I was in Hospital, all went well. Very spaced out when I came around first but went straight back out. Second coming was fine no problem. The following morning was told if I could eat my breakfast I could go home, so I did and was discharged. However I took two arnica pills before the surgery and I had no bruising, which was a help. Two days later while cleaning the mouth I noticed what I thought was food stuck in the incision. No matter how hard I tried to remove it, no way would it come out. I return for my check up to be told what I thought was food was in fact my jaw bone, the stitches had split!
The only BAD time, the first night at home. I felt really bad climbing the stairs, let alone sitting on the toilet. Seemed when the blood pressure was increased, the face, head and jaw pounded and was painful. Thankfully the following morning that has stopped. Good Luck

If you are getting gassed, you will feel really woozy when you wake up and won't be much good for anything for awhile. It wears off fairly fast though. If they put you out with an IV, don't know...I never had it done that way.

When I was younger and had to get a tooth pulled I actually liked being gassed. It doesn't...or it least it didn't for me...put you out all the way. I could always hear far away voices and a hum or throb of the machinery...and they put a plastic or rubber sheet over the top of me and it always felt like I was floating in space.

This was years ago though and things may have changed.

There will be no pain though no matter how you get it done, although you may have a little soreness in your mouth depending on how hard the teeth are to remove.
