Long story, short: friend, ended long relationship, I like him a lot, he started dating girl in class, says he likes her (b/c "attractive & fun"). But gives me confusing msgs. Usually very attentive to me. Flirty. Comfortable. Notices little things. Gives me hard time to "get a rxn out of me." I've been acting kinda distant lately (dunno why) & he makes an effort to come talk to me (more than to other girls except her). Noticed I was being dif after I found out about said girl. Aware of when I'm around. Feels like mutual attraction. Might know I like him (tried to get me to admit it when drunk). But trumps girl over me. Doesn't like to mention her unless I bring it up.
I haven't told him I like him yet b/c timing doesn't seem right, esp b/c he tells me he likes other girl. How can he be so attentive & flirty & sweet & have fun w/ me, but like this girl? I can't put the pieces together & can't stop thinking about it.
Am I being the dumb 1? Or is he just confused? What can I do?

You're his insurance in case things go wrong with this other one. Fine if this is good enough for you, but I think you would be a lot happier forgetting about him and moving on.
