My computer crashed yesterday and I used system restore to fix the issue. The problem was that this being my entertainment computer, ALL of my files are gone, as are the programs, I am going to reinstall itunes, but the fear I have is that the very rare songs I have on my ipod now, will vanish the second I connect it to the reinstalled itunes and I will have to really start all over. What can I do to prevent this, or am I fearing over nothing.

Don't plug your ipod to a blank playlist, if it is set to sync automatically you will lose your music. What I suggest is before installing iTunes back, there is software out there such as EphPod to get the songs from your iPod back to your PC, once you've done that I would go with reinstalling iTunes and importing your library back.
