Yes, that is ironic. Maybe it was put on there to counter-balance all the evil.

I tend to agree with you especially when I think of a song that says the root of all evil is the almighty dollar but, in God we trust all others pay cash.

Smile. Kinda. But 'the root of all evil' I believe is the lust for (love of) money.

I guess we love money enough to put "In God We Trust" on it.

Isn't the basis of Capitalism and modern Christmas all about the love of money?

If "the love of money" is the root of all evil what about poor old Adam and Eve?

The Bible Never says that money is evil but in 1st Timothy 6:10 it says that THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL. When we get too eager for money we often lose our faith in God and become consumed with greed and all kinds of conniving and cunning ways to get money. The Word of God also tells us to study to show thyself approved (2 Timothy 2:15). So before we quote a scripture make sure we understand what it says and study to make sure we understand God's Holy Word.

Paul said "The LOVE of money is the root of all kinds of evil ."
I like money,it pays my bills and buys my Pastrami sandwiches.I trust that God will provide. Back in the day,He might have provided by sending game my way but these days it is money that gets the job done. The reason it doesn't root evil in me is because I don't love it. My brother does.He loved it so much he tried to rip me off for 30 grand.

Actually the Bible says, "the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil." 1Tim 6:10, not money itself.

A related verse:

Heb 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

No. It is the love of money is the root of all evil, not the money. Putting money as your god and before God the Father.

1 Timothy 6:9-11 (King James Version)
9But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

10For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

11But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness

You're funny! :) Star for you!

Edit:
To those of you misguided people who continue to insist that "In God We Trust" should be taken off the money because of church and state...

Money is not a government thing!!! The Federal Reserve is not owned by the government. It is owned by bankers. The original bankers involved in creating the Federal Reserve were thought to be Templars. That is why there is an eye, a pyramid, and that verbiage on the money. It is owned by them and they can put anything on it that they please. Period. Sorry to break it to you.

The verse says "the love of money" is the root of all evil, not the money itself. Money by itself is just a neutral tool. Much good has been done with money; and much evil done by those who loved it too much.

1Ti 6:10
For the love of money is at the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.
