The idea "before the beginning" is a paradox; it doesn't make sense. God has no beginning, but this universe does. But time did not exist before this universe was created, at least in the conventional sense. It is a paradox and we lack understanding of what time is, or what a physical infinity is. So we can not understand the answer to the question.
There is at least a partial answer to this question, but it is a mystery; scripture says God reveals his secrets to his servants the prophets.

"God lives outside the realms of time for time it is a restriction that cannot hold him. He is alpha and omega, the beginning and the ending and everything in between. God just is."

So God is outside of time, yet he is 'the ending.' You realize that makes no sense whatsoever. And if God "just is" then there was never a beginning to God since God would always have been around. Therefore your stupid (and often repeated) 'alpha/omega' crap is just pointless nonsense that people like you say just to sound cool.

Anyway, my answer to this question is, good job on pointing out yet another problem with this god-concept

He had created his own Taco Bell, where he spent His time eating Burritos and playing hackey sack in with His friends, all of which He also created. Since He was a flawless hackey sacker, He became bored rather quickly, so He created the Heaven and Earth, where the humans He created would multiply and build their own Taco Bells and parking lots. And the humans would play hackey sack in those parking lots with each other, and He would be able to show off His Mad Skills.

Any time you use the bible as a starting point for a discussion of God you are limiting yourself to the opinions of a few men, a few thousand years ago.

God is outside of time and space. What He was doing? I don't know for sure. Maybe making an infinite number of universes
