What is the best thing that people at home can do to support you? If we send books/gifts - is that really helpful? Do you ever really see those things? Can we pray for you? Should we say something to our congresspeople? How can we help you?

whenever you see us walking down the mall in our uniforms even if we are with our families or whatever just say thank you it feels great and feel free to ask us anything cuz we like talking about what we do

Honestly, if people would drop this bring them home now line and let us do our job, finish our mission, and bring success instead, then I'd be much happier and feel much better supported. Letters and cards are nice, but having the unified support of the citizenry is better.
Imagine if, when the insurgents turned on the news, instead of seeing democratic candidates promising to bring the troops home, they saw nothing but a unified voice of the american people speaking out against terrorism and extremist violence in one resounding no...

All of those things. Also, in general, tell people to stop trying to second-guess us, undermine us, hamstring us, and otherwise doing everything possible to ensure the failure of our mission. A country that is against its own military and supports the enemy their military is fighting isn't bound to stand for long. Just support us and our mission, keep the media, politics, and personal opinions out of it, and give us what we need to win.

I personally beleive the biggest thing is to tell non-supporters of the war the proper way of venting their anger. If they would just take their gripes to the politicians, life would be better!!

Having just spent fifteen months in Iraq, I would absolutely love it if Congress would declare war on the Iraqi insurgency.
