muslims living in developed nations like America, Singapore, Europe,
With your living standards, behaviour, dressing, beliefs, would you be jailed or stoned in the middle eastern countries?
so are you following true Islam, or are the people in middle eastern countries following true Islam?

If you are a "True Muslim", you would know the answer to that question.
True Muslims are judged by their hearts, not where they happen to live.
*Well you have answered the question as to whether you are a "True Muslim"!
**Thumbs down! "Alhamdulillah"

No. What gave you the impression they might be? Surely you have seen photographs of the Ayatollahs in their demonstrations. Haven't you seen the statues of their leaders in Baghdad being torn down? Have there not been extracts from their news programmes denouncing the West's intervention? If these programmes were not for Muslim viewers, who were they for? The Koran tells muslims to sing and make music to praise Allah. I could go on, but what's the point? Islam is another religion which receives a bad press just to suit certain political leaders with certain political ambitions. I personally do not condone violence, mass murder etc, but lying in order to justify invading other countries cannot be condoned either. Terrorism cannot be tolerated in any form, but neither can false propaganda which immediately puts people against people for no other reason than they have a different way of life. Who has the right to dictate which way of life is better than another? I think I'd better stop, I might sound as if I'm preaching. By the way, I am Christian (as if it were important).

I am a practicing Muslimah, as for how true or right my understanding and practice of the religion is, it is for no one but Allah to decide.
My living standards aren't wonderful, but they aren't bad, same as many people in the middle east. My husband and I donate what we can to help those who have less than ourselves. The way I dress would not get me stoned as I cover almost completly. I wear very loose abayas and cover all of my hair. I may as well be stoned here in America for what I wear with the way my fellow Americans look at me and the words they have for the way I dress and my religion as well. God forbid an American Woman choose Islam! What they don't know is that it is the best choice I have made in my life. As for beliefs I follow my religion as best as I can and I also follow the laws of the land I live in. So more than likely in a midle eastern country I would be just fine.
It may be shocking to some people, but when it comes to dress, many women do not cover in the middle east. In fact there are several predominatly Muslim countries that women are not allowed to cover in certain circumstances... the stereotypes of all women being covered head to toe and the same strict laws from country to country in the middle east is just that... a stereotype. We are all subject to the laws of the country we are in even if we don't agree with them. Read your US passport...

I prefer to use the term "practicing Muslim", just like "practicing Christian, Jew...etc"
A Muslim by name is not the same as a practicing one. You will find some of both groups of Muslims all over the world.
Islam is Islam, the religion whose followers worship The One and only True God of the Universe and all in Existence, and NOTHING AND NO ONE else.
In my opionion there is no such thing as "True" Islam. The term is misleading because Islam IS the truth, the solution to many of today's problems, when implemented correctly.

Sunni and shia are all followers of Islam, we are one, we witness that there is only one God , Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. All Muslims are brothers and sisters, Arab or non Arab. The teaching of our prophet says so.

VERY interesting question.
I've seen the term "true islam" sooooo many times here on R&S and it's always in conjunction with "I'm muslim and *I* would NEVER do something like THAT. I'm a TRUE muslim and WE don't do that stuff. Just the people who don't follow true islam."
Problem is that every single group is pointing at every other group saying that the OTHER groups are wrong but their's is okay and "peaceful".
I don't have a CLUE what "true islam" is.
I just know what the true NATURE of islam is. And, it's not pretty.
