Check the county you are getting married in.
In the county I'm getting married in, I plan on getting it a few days before the wedding (its a destination wedding). I think its good for 30 days though.

Every state has it's own laws. Here in NY it is good for 60 days but it takes 24 hours to mature.

In Pa its good for 60 days but it takes 3 days to take effect..
