everyone is getting ready for the christmas holidays. its a special time of year for everyone. but i believe that some people have forgotten the real reason behind christmas. our Lord and Savior was born on christmas. and we have all done so many things to put him aside. but im sure we will never forget what he did for us. he died for our sins. he took the punishment. so why are we still putting him aside? hes like the best friend that took the bullet for us. i for one believe that this year has been such a blessing to us and all the years before and to come. i believe that every breath we take is a blessing. its time we started putting God first and praying instead of getting even. he died for us so why not live for him! im not judging anyone and im not here to get big reviews. just people with opinions or thoughts. if u dont want to answer dont. if s feel free to. if u want to go against what im saying feel free to. but i love my Lord and im so glad he saved my soul!

ok maybe i mistyped the question. my question is not why are we not celebrating jesus on christmas or that christians are the only ones who should celebrate. all im asking is why do people chose to bring God out only on christmas because that is when they believe he was born. why cant God be talked about all the time. why just christmas?

I celebrate every moment in my life.
Christmas - the return-of-the-sun-celebration later called Christmas - means nothing special to me.
Any moment is special.

I don't really understand what the question is. I'm not christian, but I celebrate anyway because it's a national holiday, and I can appreciate that it's the one time during the year that most people are in a better mood and try to be nicer to each other. Jesus was a great guy and all, and he had a lot of good things to say, but I don't think he has exclusive intellectual property rights to the holiday.

The original reason for the season was Hanukkah, Yule, Solstice, Saturnalia and the birth of many savior sun gods (like Mithra born of a virgin in a cave). Decorations * a tree inside the house * candles lit all night (or lights) * exchanging gifts * mistletoe * toasting each other * feasting * gathering family together * burning a Yule log * celebrating a savior's birthday on the 25th (all of those things are pagan)

I'm glad that you are so happy in your religion and have found peace. May it always continue for you.

Added: I understand and agree. I celebrate my cousin's church and his work in it. He offers Christianity to those who wish it, doesn't push and does good works. That's a true Christian to me and one I can believe in and support, even as a Heathen.

While Christmas isn't Christ's real birth date - I celebrate then because it is good to celebrate his birth - it is kind of like the British Queens birthday - she has an official birthday and her actual birthday - the offical birthday is when there are state functions etc to celebrate while on her actual birthday she is with her family. While yes we do celebrate his birth in december and we try our best to keep our celebrations focused on his birth, life and death and all that He did for us, on the weekend closest to the date when we believe that we have actually born we have big 2 day conference which is broadcast world wide in which we learn how to more perfectly follow him.

He wasn't born on christmas!!! Sheperds do not heard their sheep in winter, they do in fall. The day that Christmas is celebrated on is actually a pagan holiday, so we can celibrate it however we want to sense it's not really the day of his birth.

Actually, your Lord and Savior was not born on the date of Christmas; he was born in either the early spring or early fall.

Your Lord has got nothing to do with December 25th, stop kidding yourself.
