It would depend on where you took your MA training program, as to whether any courses might be transferrable. If you took the courses at a local community college, then you might get credit at the university.

It is not technically a transition as MA is not a nursing field, there are some overlap of functions performed also by nurses, but MAs are not nurses and have not been educated in a nursing model.

Most of the time, the courses, if taken at a community college, can be used as electives, at least, because they frequently do not meet the requirements of an RN program, unless the course was shared with the RN program at the community college. If your program was at a local private technical school, (such as Hallmark) then you will note in their advertising the small print regarding the credits probably not being transferable.

Good luck in nursing school!

The LPN would be in your best interests, I think. One year of school, take Board exams, make money pretty quickly. The MA has no place to advance, can only work in a doctor's office, The RN will take at minimum of 2 years. A 4 year RN is the standard for hire at most places, but a 2 year nurse can get a job, though not likely to advance unless she is unusual..

Be sure to keep your syllabus for your CMA classes!! When registering for nursing classes you may be able to opt out of some classes if you can prove you have already covered that material. Your proof would be the syllabus. One of my very best friends was first a CMA and is now a RN. Good Luck!!

Why not.. you are already at an advantage with already being in the healthcare system. I'm a phlebotomist going for my RN.
