Supposedly becuase it accentuates pagan beliefs. Big deal. so does Christmas, but the christians aren't going to complain about having Christmas. (oops... i'll get thumbs down for that one. oh well. Nevermind i grew up a christian...) The beleifs of having a familiar, or a Deamon, such as in the movie (pan, is her deamon) is a pagan belief... All people have their alter-egos or familiars, or animal co-horts. The movie also describes Magick, witchcraeft, and the ability to control the future using an object (considered dark magick by some, depending on the person, of course.) The Christian community is still afraid of being overthrown by Pagans, even now. I heard 'bad' things about the movie (and books) too. It only made me want to go get them. hehe oh well. ;)

Merry Christmas, Happy Yule, Happy Hanukka, Merry solstice, etc. etc. etc and sorry if i left any out!! ;) Good luck!!

i'm taking my little brother. i'm a Christian and that i examine those books as a newborn. For me, they have been super for my skills in training discernment, catching the messages. My mum and dad did not pay any interest to what I examine, so I examine each and every thing from Stephen King to The Bible, and this. here is what i think of roughly boycotting this. - at the beginning, they kill God on the tip of the 0.33 e book, so as that heavily isn't present interior the action picture -An interview I examine with the director reported that he did not placed the anti-Christian stuff in, with the aid of fact he did not decide to alienate the Christian crowd. -Nicole Kidman is Catholic and she or he reported that she could not be interior the action picture if it exchange into anti-Catholic. So now the only probability would be in young toddlers interpreting the books. achieveable strategies: -do not enable your toddlers examine the books. tell them what's in them and say that the action picture is greater suitable (the books have been slow to me, extremely the 1st one, so it incredibly is probable real) -examine it along with your newborn and factor out the offensive textile so as that interior the destiny while they examine theologically offensive issues, they are going to capture it and not concern it. Use them to instruct them approximately God. i don't help a boycott with the aid of fact we ought to constantly not in basic terms be advocating Christian textile interior the worldwide. that is incredibly not a Christian state, and we are able to apply this as a springboard to witness to others. Plus, i've got faith that the shadow proves the mild. God allowed evil interior the worldwide as yet another decision, and as a assessment. They made the action picture with the aid of fact they had to make money, and function with politeness watered it down for us. i might reward the makers for that, so extremely they don't make a fiery political action picture interior the destiny, with the aid of fact those are in basic terms not exciting in any respect. besides, i'm going to make certain this action picture, with the aid of fact i'm not petrified of alternative ideas interior the worldwide. They galvanize theory and bring about clarity. This action picture and the books have as lots good to thrive as Narnia.

Read all the books.
In the books, God is just the first angel and people can somehow communicate with all-knowing matter called dark matter. As fas as I remember, the compasses can communicate with dark matter and somehow, a scientist does too in the 2nd or 3rd book. And you find out why extremist Christians are against it.

The biggest problem with the movie is that it, like every thing else in society, attacks christianity in some form or another.

As crazy as this may sound, christians are getting treated this way for the oppressive way they've dominated many things for hundreds of thousands of years. Its unfair, but I kinda expect it.

There's nothing wrong with the movie. The problem is the author -- Philip Pullman has been an atheist for decades and Invisible Sky Critter hasn't struck him with lightning yet. The godsters can't stand that.

SOME christians are against it because in the books [mostly the 2nd and 3rd] its like the opposite of the bible; like there are 2 groups: the christians [authority in power] and the ppl that want to bring them down because IN THE BOOK they are controlling and killing ppl and being bad leaders and stuff. people have to remember, THIS BOOK IS NOT A BIBLE, THIS BOOK IS NOT TRYING TO TRICK LITTLE KIDS, IT NEVER SAYS ANYTHING ABOUT REAL LIFE! IT IS A FICTIONAL BOOK FOR GOODNESS SAKE!! 1st they mess w/ harry, now lyra and will? no heckkk noo lol

people need to remember a book = a book!!!

It wasn't good enough so atheists began to advertise it by saying Christians were rallying against it even though I haven't seen any such rallies. In other words atheists just constantly bring it up because they want it to make a lot of money. But apparently they failed. Their advertising and constant whining worked for nothing, the movie only received moderate success. Atheists just feel bad they cannot do things as well as Christians can.

The problem with the movie is that it leads kids straight to the three books in the trilogy, and it's in the books where kids are encouraged to become atheists. The author will never admit it, but that's the effect they want for the books. It's all so subtle. Satan is behind it, guaranteed !

The movie is from a set of books. The book they chose was the least "offensive" one, but at the end of the series of the books a couple of kids "Kill God". The author is an Atheist who is trying to persuade children from having any kind of faith in God.

I think it's an allegory meant to come against the story that C.S. Lewis wrote, Narnia. I believe the author deliberately wanted to oppose Christianity. Also, in one of the books the children kill God.

Like that.

P.S. I always love when I give a thumbs down for an accurate answer!
