Conscience The ability to know from right and wrong. If a monkey steals a bannana from me does it know it is a thief?. No it does not it is just reacting.

Next animals do not have the ability to ponder and invent. No monkey has ever thought "humm I don't like living here in the jungle I think I will build an airplane and move".

animals work on instinct there is a distinct difference from animal intelligence and human intelligence we have no natural defenses if we did not have the ability to invent then we would not survive in the animal kingdom.

of course this does not mean this conscience and ability to invent came from God but I believe it did but that is my opinion

Humans have the ability to think rationally and have alternatives to instinctual reactions. We are equipped with higher learning centers in the brain than just the primitive amygdala (which is how animals function primarily). While animals are able to feel emotion (some people don't believe this, but they have never spent time with an animal for an extended period if that's the case) they are unable to understand their emotional responses in complex ways. Or to develop alterative ways of dealing with them
Humans are also able to contemplate the end of their existance (death). Animals also do not seem to have an ego as humans do. Ego is based upon object relations (psychological concept).

NOTHING!

Ecclesiastes 3:19 (New International Version)
Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath; man has no advantage over the animal. Everything is vanity.

Job 7:9 (New International Version)
As a cloud vanishes and is gone, so he who goes down to the grave does not return.

Human development and reproductive success depends to an incredible degree upon learned ablilites and information. Instincts and physical traits play a much smaller, supportive role.

From a biblical point of view, speaking is powerful. God made men to be like Him. God created the world by speaking. All the other animals on earth can only make sound, dog barks, cat meow, sheep beats.....etc. Only man can speak and that's why speak good things into your life as Proverbs 18:21 stated "Death and life are in the power of the tongue". For God to create He only needs to speak, for God to redeem He will have to bleed......

To my way of thinking, the only thing that raises us above the level of the animals is the Bible and 10 Commandments. Many animals will steal from one another, kill, covet what the other animal has, make a God out of who ever holds the feedbag....breed indiscriminately and attempt to breed with like gender. Hmmm Just me. Mmm

this is my thought on it. in most ways, we are the same, but AS FAR AS WE KNOW, we have evolved higher and with lack of a better word, better intelligence. the thing is, we dont know what animals think. we know what they think in our language and the way we think, not a lot. they could be VERY smart, just not in the way see. its a hard thing to describe but i hope you atleast get what im saying. animals are smart, but they dont have a lot we have... but i guess some people consider what we have as devil knowledge and its destroying the earth (global warming and stuff like that)

The ability to apply logic to evidence to arrive at valid conclusions. Some apes can do this to a limited degree, but not in a multi-step argument.

We are not that different. The only real thing that separates us is our intelligence. We have a higher intelligence then any other animal. This is of course based on your definition of intelligence. But the main scale tests the ability of conscious thought as it relates to oneself. Only a few animals are aware of their existence. This means if you were to paint a dot on their head while they slept, only a handful of animals would recognize that there is a dot on their head when looking into a mirror. And only humans are able to think about being aware of being aware of their consciousness.

When you say `us', who are you referring to? For me there are animals, people and then the humans...
the difference for me is that people can be cruel and mean just to do it...animals may kill but its to survive and its in their instinct...for example:
animals dont go out and rape, murder, get dui's, torture other animals just for fun...nor do they have grocery stores all over the land and still find it fun to go shooting and killing animals just for fun...they are not racists or bigots either. they are not greedy, go to war, or invent ways to kill their babies.
then there are human beings that are above the animals due to answering to a higher power, compassion, intelligence, education, can reason and be will not to do something when their conscience tells them this is wrong.
Perhaps some of you will find this offensive, then you need to question yourself and find out why...
