Last time I checked he was all-powerful. Is he vunerable to lack of sleep, does he need to rest to boost his energy levels? I suppose It's just another "mis-interpretation".

The following comment is taken from John Gill's commentary:

"and resteth the seventh day: which does not suppose labour, attended with weariness and fatigue; for the Creator of the ends of the earth fainteth not, neither is weary, Isa_40:28 nor ease and refreshment from it, but only a cessation from the works of creation, they being finished and completed, though not from the works of Providence, in which he is continually concerned: now this circumstance, before recorded in the history of the creation, is wisely improved to engage an attention to this command, and to the observation of it; there being an analogy between the one and the other, that as God worked six days, and, having done his work completely, ceased from it and rested, so it was fit and proper, that as the Israelites had six days allowed them to labour in, and do all their work, they should rest on the seventh, they and all that belonged to them, or had any connection with them: "

I think a lot time the misunderstanding occurs due to the translation from the Hebrew to English. I would think that the word "rest" actually means to enjoy the creation. Just like a artist finished his artwork and he rested. He is enjoying his art creation. You are right to say that it's another mis--interpretation. God likes to use the word "rest" in lots of context in the bible. When the Israelites refused to enter the "Promise Land", God said they will not enter His "rest". Ever wonder why?

He created the 7th day of rest, so men could watch football on Sundays. Otherwise, we'd have to do yardwork and go curtain shopping with our wives.

Remember, God also created the over/under, the 2 team parlay, and the 6 team 7 point teaser.

Because the goat-herders who wrote the bible had small brains and lacked even the remotest sense of an imagination.

Genesis makes it clear that the bible is 100% man-made. Only humans would ascribe human-like emotions to a supposedly omniscient, omnipotent being. God even gets jealous and angry - Jealousy suggests impotence, not omnipotence. A truly omnipotent being would not even need to create anything. Creation would be superfluous to such a creature.

God is the reification of man's problems and ideas.

The word translated as 'rest' simply means that He ceased from labor/work, not that He was in any way tired.

He didn't rest because he was tired.

He just stopped creating. He didn't stop working.

John 5:17- But he answered them: “My Father has kept working until now, and I keep working.”
