They might, but I think it will be a little while before they do. They may want to see how well Toyota does before venturing into NASCAR.

The car has to be manufactured in the United States. Toyota Camrys are made in Kentucky. Honda seems to be more interested in the IRL and Nissan said it would not enter the Titan into the Truck series which is where Toyota got a start because the Tundra is made in the USA. I think the 4 makes currently in NASCAR will be the 4 makes for the next several years because no one else has any sort of NASCAR organization

I think that some foreign cars will but not a lot of them. Toyota has a lot of money to throw around while some of the others don't have that much to. Also, they have their own commitments to deal with. Anyway, in my opinion, the reason why Toyota got into NASCAR is because they are selling well to the American public (they were the top car sellers last year) while not many other car sellers don't have that same luxury since the other top spots are dominated by "American made" cars.

Yes, I"m sure Honda will follow, I've heard a rumor about them and the truck series in a couple yrs... I'd like to see Saturn come in thats part of GM.. I'm sure all the foreign manufactures are waiting to see how Toyota does before they make the big leap into Nascar..

I think as another contributor said that Toyota is only in the sport because they are a popular brand with the American public (the camry was #1 mid-sized sedan last year i think).

If any other foreign manufacturer was to join it would be Honda because Honda already has a racing presence with their Indy cars.

I doubt that NASCAR would "allow" other manufacturers in though because they wouldn't want to lose the majority of their fan base which drive and buy GM and Ford.

Honda seriously considered fielding a NASCAR entry during the 1990s. The main problem was that conforming to NASCAR's rules for a new entry at the time was difficult. With COT it should be much more straigtforward. The problem is, what brand identity would they get out of running a car that is exactly the same as everybody else's?

I agree with the people who say Honda will go for the truck series eventually. Truck racing would promote the Honda truck brand win or lose, as people don't really think of Honda as a truck-builder at present. However, for Honda cars the high technology of F1 may still be more the image they want to portray.

Honda will be in the Truck Series by 2010. Yes I said 2010. This model year the released a pickup to compete with Toyota. They also have a lot of money to spend on racing. They also have a long history in racing. At this time in fact they build all the IRL motors. At least they did last I heard. Any way in 2010 when Honda fields a truck you can say you heard it hear first. Also it will be Ganassi or Penski. Remember Penski spoke with Toyota in 06 and even tested a Toyota and Ganassi has history with Honda. JMO

Heaven forbid that successful auto manufactures actually get involved in the sport! I mean how much money does GM and Ford lose every quarter? They are so screwed because of their pension plans! Those compnaies will eventually go bankrupt or worse we will have to pay for it!

Toyota actually makes money and has been making better vehicles for many years!
Honda probably won't be long down the road! They have a huge racing background to work with.

More than likely Honda. fluffy, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes Benz and BMW all have plants in the US and employ American workers. Ed P. Saturn is not a foreign car, it's a division of GM(that the bastards killed Oldsmobile to keep). You're not going to see Saturn in NASCAR any more than you're going to see Pontiac again because GM's going to stick with Chevy.

They might try. But let's hope not! Having Toyota in the Nationwide and Cup series is bad enough. Do not want anyone else to ruin their careers driving cars that won't win much!

I sure hope not. I am still hoping that Toyota tanks and never wins a race. I hope it costs tham so much money to drive Toyotas that it is no longer worth it.
