By doing the same thing Jesus did.
By honouring the True God Jehovah. Palms 83:18
By a demonstration of your faith to tell others of the Kingdom of God and the Good News of the coming Kingdom on this earth.
By praying to Jehovah and asking Him in Jesus Name.

But to boil it down to just two things, they are. Jesus said...

Love Jehovah God with your whole heart, soul, and mind.
and
Love your neighbour as yourself.

Now you know. Visit a Kingdom Hall and meet the true Christians who do go out ( as a demonstration of faith )
and share the Good News of God's Kingdom and purposes.

Best Wishes !

Wood

If you do just those two things you will be a true christian.

I think you have to go with the testimony of Scripture. One thing Paul wrote to believers was this:
"You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ."
Romans 8:9

The Epistles, or Letters of the New Testament in particular are written to believers who had the Spirit of Christ; who had been born of the Spirit. I think of First John in particular as being a Letter full of things which identify and distinguish true believers from those who are not true believers. I suggest you read it to see what John has to say about being a true Christian.

"Being a Christian" is something that God does to you....it's called (as Jesus said) "being born again by water and the spirit."

Were you "born again of water and the spirit?" In other words, have you been Baptized?

If you have...then you are one. If you are not...then you're not.

Romans 6:3 "Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."

Baptism is the sacrament whereby people become Christians, and thereby members of the Church.

At Baptism, the new Christian (or in the case of a child, the parents or guardians) professes belief in Jesus, renounces evil before the Church, and then is immersed in (or has poured on them) water three times—in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Baptism represents our participation in the death and resurrection of Jesus, and assures us of our salvation through belief in him.

I don't mean to sound like I'm critical, but if you don't know you're a Christian, something is not right with your walk with the Lord. I don't know what you mean by a "true" Christian.

I have no doubt I am saved, I have no doubt Jesus loves me, I have no doubt I have a personal relationship with Jesus.

I also have no doubt that I fail every day at following His example! That does not negate that I belong to Him.

That is not an easy question to answer because the Bible tells us that in the final stages of the church age there will be more decieved people in the church than true Christians.

You must accept Jesus as your savior, admit you are a sinner, get baptized, and you can not condone or justify sin.

then you must try to live like Jesus did. Since we all fall short on this, when we do sin we must admit it not condone it and say we are sorry and try not to do it again.

next we must try to do what Jesus said and love thy God and love thy neighbor.

If we can do that and it shows in our life style then we are a true Christian.

The most important part is accepting Jesus and to not justify sin and ever say it is ok.

This is my opinion on how I know a true Christian.

You can't for sure but you will have to make an educated guess when you have seen the way I live. Mind you true Jews, true Moslems, true Buddhists live much the same way except for differences in the way they worship. I don't know about other faiths.

? the answer lies in the New Testament.. that is why many of us read and reread the New Testament to wring out every drop.. Not easy at all. A tough lifelong journey of faith.

A true Christian believes that Jesus Christ is God, that he resurrected from the dead (and is therefore alive today - Romans 10:9) and was born of a virgin (indicating his sinless nature).

No one knows what a true Christian is, even Christians argue over it.
