Both job has a difference of staying in UTAH and living in Afghanistan!
I assume CAR Mechs. are in Higher Demand as there are more cars running around than Aircrafts.

Definately aircraft mechanics. there is a huge demand right now because the pay is not as good. the demand doesn't necessarily make the pay go up because everything else in aviation is so expensive (parts, fuel, insurance). Most of this can be blamed on people suing when they crash. They typically sue the manufacturer of the plane, the FAA, the city where the airport was, everything they can. The insurance companies have to pay and their prices go up. The manufacture now has to charge more for the part to make their liability insurance payment.
Anyway to answer your question...If you have an A&P license you won't have a problem finding a job anywhere.
There are alot if different kind of jobs, some require travel but some don't. If you like airplanes I would recommend working in the general aviation field instead of an airline.

Auto mechanics, for the volume, but for the money it's aircraft mechs. You need to ask your self what you want to do. Do you want to move? If you say no, then aircraft are not for you. Do you like long hours, field trips to the middle of nowhere, and a lack of appreciation for what you do? Then aircraft are still not for you. I can go on, but if I did, you would definitely not want to be in aerospace. I had to make the same decision eight years ago, I chose aerospace, and yes, sometimes I regret it, but I have a good job, good pay, okay benefits, and I still like what I do after all this time. So you need to find out what makes you happy, fixing planes, or cars. I can tell you one thing, they are not the same in any respect, I've worked in both fields, and aircraft are more up my alley anyways. If you can't decide, just go to your local airport, and ask some mechs how they feel, but be objective, there are many different kinds of aircraft mechs, with many different opinions. You've got the fbo ones, the repair station ones, the airliners, contractors, small plane ones, and the free floaters. Me, I'm in a large repair station, we get to work everything on our planes, from phases to mods to wrecks, to just about anything you can think to do to a plane. The job satisfaction, technical aspect is what does it for me, and the professionalism of aerospace in general. Besides, aircraft are just plain cooler than cars, and nothing is better than burning off two thousand pounds of jet fuel first thing in the morning on a run.

More in demand? I hope you continue to train as an A & P. Being a specialist has a higher demand. I believe that the pay will eventually be better for an A & P, and after five years, you can sign-off other A & P's work. As an A & P you can basically go anywhere and write your own ticket.

Car Mechanics are deffinatly more needed. With all the strikes of aircraft mechanics and the debt of most airlines, there really isnt any room for most large aircraft companies to be hiring but on the same note with car mechanics i wouldnt expect to get a job through Ford or General Motors beacuse there both experencing job cuts and bankrupsy but through a private enterprise or company sure

this may be a large question! that is challenging to respond to although as a results of fact there may be such various variables. I actual have been an airplane mechanic for over 11 years now. I actual have shrunk distant places (Iraq) and revamped $one hundred seventy five,000 a twelve months working 40 hours a week. I actual have acquaintances that robotically take contracting jobs distant places and make 6 figures. are you able to're making that money in the states? not very rather. excessive paying airplane mechanic jobs are protection stress government contractors, mechanics for airplane assigned to wooded area hearth contracts and needless to say the airways, inspite of the actuality that the airways have been under financial stress for some time. Mechanics at an FBO will make under an motor vehicle mechanic lots greater possibly. FBO jobs are stable for gaining adventure although. I presently artwork as a EMS helicopter mechanic. sure that is conceivable an automobile mechanic makes greater effective than me, although, pay is barely area of the equation. I merely artwork oftentimes 3-4 days a week. i'm earnings. i understand motor vehicle mechanics that make $80,000 yet they certainly stay at artwork. i in my opinion might extremely make much less money and spend time with my teenagers. the different area of the equation is whether or not or not you celebrate with aviation. in case you think of airplanes and helicopters are cool and you have a protection oriented physique of concepts, aviation may be an extremely worthwhile occupation and you could make large money at it. airplane mechanics are area of a small group of folk who celebrate with doing what they love. particular, pilots get all the honour, yet all of us understand that that is as a results of fact of experienced mechanics that they are able to defy gravity and return to earth effectively.

aircraft mechanics are in higher demand because the pay isn't the best IE you can make more money working on cars. working in aerospace isn't just about working for money there has to be more to why you are there besides money.

Well being a pilot I may not have the facts, BUT A&P's will make more I'm sure and they always seem to be in short supply AND can work on cars. I heard of a Mercedes Dealership in California who only hired A&P's.
Go for the A&P, trust me, you will be glad you did.
