I'm reading up on the extraction method of a tooth, and it says that the infection can sometimes null the novocaine. I just got my antibiotics today, and my appointment is scheduled for tomorrow. Should I post pone, or should the novocaine work regardless? I'm going to an actual oral surgeon, so even then, he may have laughing gas.

I know that it can kill me, that was the first thing I asked my doc. He said it's abscessed pretty bad, but by no means am I in danger. I'm just not wanting to go there and feel every bit of the tooth coming out.

Is there the possibility of the oral surgeon turning me away from it being infected still?

Are you guys sure that I'll have enough antibiotics in me for the infection to be surpressed?

Abscessed teeth can be fatal if the infection travels.... yours doesn't seem to be in that category...

It's true that an abscess can prevent you from getting numb, however, your other option is to request that you be 'put to sleep' first..... then you can still have the tooth extracted. Even when it's gone, though, you'll still have to keep taking the antibiotics until they're all gone... Being 'knocked out' is more expensive, but just may be worth it in your case. And don't forget to bring a driver with you, and refrain from eating/drinking after midnight tonight...

Best of luck to you~ you'll be just fine!
