You never know what may be there if you don't look.
My niece had a birthday party with a big cake covered in dark blue marzipan. The next day we were all calling eachother thinking we were ill cos we all had bright green poo! If we hadn't have looked, we'd never have made ourselves look silly and prove that we look in the toilet after we've had a dump.

everyone does!!! some people just wont admit!!! my little brother is only 3 (not long potty trained) he still counts his (by the sound it makes when it drops into the toilet water!!), one day he was sitting on the toilet and mum had a man in fixing the washing machine when he shouted from the bathroom "Mum ive done 5 come and see!!!" lol

I actually wonder about those who DON'T...
I don't think it's a good idea to go through life so unaware of your own body and it's condition as to not want at least to some extent monitor what goes into you and equally what comes out of you. The condition of your excretions are a very good barometer of your overall health. I think it would be instinctive to be aware of it.

I don't think it hurts to take a quick check just to make sure there's nothing obviously wrong, like blood, narrowing of the stool, etc. since its a good way to catch early symptoms of a possible problem, but don't obsess over it.

Well tonight I found out that there was no toilet paper in the bathroom and swore down to my wife to bring some up to me. She replied have you not got a civil tongue in your head? I shouted yes but I don't have a neck like a Giraffe!!

For the same reason we look in the hankychief - to check for anything unhealthy. It's a good early warning of many ailments

Its actually a good idea. This can help you become aware of a number of diseases in their early stages; it can also help you find intestinal bleeding and to check on your hemorrhoids.
