Marine Nephew wants out. (Has a look of drinking and eating lemons) Many of his friends in the Marines want out but they won't let any of them out. My nephew joined at 17 and just turned 19 last week. (What does a 17 year old know?)

Well at 17 maybe his parents and the rest of his family should have helped him make a better desicion. He can't get in by himself at 17. Why not support him till his enlistment is up.

I joined when I was 17 and after 20 year, 6 months, and 10 days on active duty, I still think it was the best decision I ever made. There are Marines that are not happy with their situations. What do you thing USMC stands for? U Signed the MF'ing Contract. Tell your nephew to man up and finish his enlistment with pride and dignity. Once a Marine, Always a Marine! There is only 1 person who can take that away from him and that's himself. He'll have to live with the outcome of his actions, one way or-the-other, it's on him, now!

Once your nephew committed, there is nothing great about trying to get out early. I think a lot of people base their opinions on their first experiences. Some bases I've been on, there might be 5 out of 50 Marines I talk to who want to stay in past their EAS. Other times, there are 45 out of 50 who want to stay in. However, your question is fruitless because there is nothing honorable about trying to get out early "just because."

I hate to say it but your nephew needs to GROW UP. So does his buddies. I did 5 years and the only reason I got out was because I injured my knee and they will not let me re-enlist. Many Marines I KNOW want to stay in. Tell your nephew that he is making it harder on himself.

Honestly, I have never heard Marines TRYING to get out in large numbers. Yeah, there are always a few $hit birds who look to their EAS from the time they graduate boot camp. But for the most part, people have a pretty good attitude.

Who joins the Marine Corps in the middle of a war if they don't want to go kick ***? Most of the time, you join other service branches for college money and all that. You join the Marines because you want to put some bullets in people's heads.

I would have to see some actual statistics to quantify "so many Marines".

There have always been people who join the military but then decide they don't want to fulfill their side of the contract. There may be more with the current fighting going on, but from all the anecdotal evidence I've read I would suspect Marines to be impacted the least.

Your relation, wants out because he has discovered that in-grown yellow stripe on his back is now about a foot wide and showing like yours, old Lemon Troll.

No wonder he is confused with you as a relation, I am surprised he has not bit the big Lemon before now with a Self Inflicted injury, if he does its down to your anti-war propaganda.

Actually I wonder why this question gets so many responses at all. We all know that there are not that many marines trying to get out of the service.

Heh, you base your judgements on the thoughts and actions of ONE NINETEEN YEAR OLD. That's pretty lame. If we all based out judgements on the actions on 19-year-olds, the world would be even MORE ignorant than it is now. (If that's even possible)
