I have seizures I have absence and grand mal. I am not a parent though. I am taking Lamictal and Zonegran. I have had tons of AEEG's EEG's and CAT scans MRI's and such. I used to have hundreds of absence seizures a day until I was put on zonegran and now I haven't had problems in over a year. I just recently had a grand mal a couple wks ago. Good luck with everything!

I have never heard that term. My 5 year old has had seizures for 1 year now. She had her last seizure when she was taking Lamicol. Now they have her on Depacote. Don't feel as if you are alone, there are many children with seizures. Have you looked up absence seizure on the web(sure you have) Sorry I was not a lot of help, but God bless, and Merry Christmas.

Many years ago, back in the 70's my sister had this condition. The cause was never determined and they stopped
as quickly as they began. It was very difficult for her while in school. She would lose control of her bladder and speak gibberish. She is fine now, as an adult and has four healthy children. Always remember, God made us all special and we should never be ashamed of who we are. Kerri, you might be able to educate others about your condition as this helps
people to be more sympathetic. My daughters have blood disorders and my middle daughter also has ADHD and by polar disorder. Both of them have turned their "problem" into a positive thing by educating others in school and out. God Bless.

This is a forum discussing Absence Seizures in toddlers. There are probably other relevant groups and forums there too.

You may be able to find other parents to talk to in this community.
