I have had two miscarragies and with my first pregnancy the placenta detached, so my doc took some blood test and told me that some of my levels were abnormal and that my blood clots... have anyone ever heard of this ? And does this mean i would be like a high risk of maybe having a clot go to my heart or something? Also I am 10 weeks and so far so good with baby.. but having to take folic acid, vit b6 and b12 and one baby asprin a day

clots are a defensive mechanism in the body, if our blood didn't clot, we'd all bleed to death from a simple bruise. You have higher clotting factors, so the baby aspirin will keep your blood from clotting so easily. And you need to be very aware of adequate water intake. You need a minimum of two liters of water a day to keep your body functioning efficiently. Otherwise, your blood becomes too thick and you increase your risk of forming clots.

hi me, yes, there are blood disorders that cause clots. I have MTHFR genetic mutation.

I was diagnosed with it 2 yrs. ago after I had a stroke at the age of 37. I had 2 clots previously, 1 in 1998 in my right leg, 2nd one in 2000 and then they found a 12" clot on my brain during an MRI. They thought it was due to my Crohn's flaring since it can cause clots (make the blood sticky when inflammation is present) because they tested for protein S deficiency, Protein C deficiency, and Factor V, and that came out negative. The 4th clot was last yr. in my left leg. I was put on bedrest, Lovenox shots, had to wear Teds, and monitored by my MD via phone and office visits. I have a greenfield filter. That is why I was able to stay at home. It prevents clots from traveling from my leg to the heart. If I didn't have it, I would've been in the hospital hooked up to Heparin IVs. I have bled out on coumadin after my stroke
so Lovenox was the last resort. So far so good.

There is a support group for women w/blood clotting abnormalities and have had pregnancies. I am on their mailing list and get alot of great info on the newest treatments. link provided for you.

I hope this helps and I wish you and your family a healthy holiday season. God bless.
