Your suposed to ask God directly for forgiveness.
He has already paid for your sin, he's waiting for you to talk with him directly and will forgive you.
The throne room is open to any child of God.
The bible states Jesus is our Great High Preist. He alone is sitting at the right hand of God interceeding for you.
The only time you should ask forgiveness of a human is if you have sinned against that human, if they are still hurting don't expect humans to forgive. If they have healed it costs them nothing to forgive you.
God bless

Actually you CAN go directly to God, and He says so in the Bible. He did not say that an intermediary is necessary, and He says to bring Him all your burdens and He will make them lighter.
He is the only one who gives forgiveness, and don't just listen to me, take a look in your Bible. Religions a lot of times are centuries of TRADITION all glommed together with fripperies that are not neccessary: They afford someone position, power, a job, and certainly get respect with the more pomp and circumstance.
And as for forgiveness, there is nothing too big for God to hear, or to understand, or to forgive. We are also told in the Bible, that if at all possible, go to the person you have wronged, and make it right. If that is not possible, it is between you and God---no confessor is needed.

Christians don't have to go to someone to confess, catholics do. I was brought up that I can confess my sins to God, ask for forgiveness, and be forgiven. Biblically a medium is someone who communicates with the dead. I don't know if that's the best term to use. Not trying to sound cocky but there are a lot of bashers on here which you will soon see.

I used to be an avid Catholic...Now I have come to think logically... I consider myself a weak atheist. I say weak because there surely is no positive way to know what happens after death, and we could never comprehend any sort of divine creator, its inplausible. To answer your question...i want to ask you my own question. Why is it that you must go to confession or ask forgiveness at all? Why do we sin? why does a man-made insitution tell us what is right and wrong? Personally i enjoy sinning, its what makes life tolerable. When you sin its what you really enjoyed doing...Don't let your religion supress all your natural human desires, come on man!

No fence dude, your "Religion" is totally skrewed up. I am a Christian, and you have to do nothin of the sort 4 god 2 4give u. You CAN ask God 4 forgivness. That's the only thing you need to do. There aren't any rituals for this, all you have to do is say, "God I'm sorry." Or whatevah u wanna do.
I think u got the wrong religion here, man. Christians are simple. A simple "I'm Sorry, God. Please forgive me." will do.
In Mark 2:5, God said to a dude, "You're sins are forgiven." All you have to do, is ask! Read the new testament in the bible to find out more.

Kick all that B.S., and for goodness sake we shouldn't look for unchained wisdom among juvenile religious zealots. If we are to deliver ourselves from our guilt, we must learn to forgive ourselves.
Forgiveness from another, if I understand the meaning of the term, does not absolve us from a sense of culpability. Certainly "Go and sin no more" does not truly resolve the matter. Going to one we have wronged and admitting what we have done to get his forgiveness is a first step. But ultimately, we must put the conduct in perspective, forgive ourselves and learn from the experience.

Look inside any Catholic church and you will find religious pictures and images that are given prominence and honor. You will also find the same things in Catholic homes. Pictures, images, medals and even “relics” of “saints” are objects of reverence by Catholics.
From our Bible study, we learned that image worship does not please God. For example, the Scriptures warn against it at Isaiah 42:8, which says: “I am Jehovah. That is my name; and to no one else shall I give my own glory, neither my praise to graven images.” Indicating his attitude toward images, God declared in the second of the Ten Commandments: “You must not make for yourself a carved image or a form like anything that is in the heavens above or that is on the earth underneath or that is in the waters under the earth. You must not bow down to them nor be induced to serve them, because I Jehovah your God am a God exacting exclusive devotion.” (Ex. 20:4, 5) Yet, in the Catholic religion candles are burned in front of statues, and flowers and money are offered to them, while worshipers bow or kneel in prayer before them. I used to do the same thing.
Catholics believe that image worship can cause the “saints” to act as mediators between God and the worshiper. However, the Bible indicates that this is wrong, for we read: “There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus.” (1 Tim. 2:5) Besides Jesus Christ, none can mediate with God on our behalf. (Compare John 14:6; Acts 4:12.) It amazed us to learn that we had been giving more honor to created persons and things than to the Creator.—Rom. 1:25.
An example of praying to persons other than God is the Confiteor (meaning “I Confess”), a prayer used during Mass. It includes the following: “I confess to Almighty God, to blessed Mary ever Virgin, to blessed Michael the Archangel, to blessed John the Baptist, to the holy Apostles Peter and Paul, and to all the saints, that I have sinned exceedingly in thought, word, and deed.” According to the Bible, though, it is God alone who is the “Hearer of prayer.” (Ps. 65:2) Jesus taught that prayers should be directed to “Our Father in the heavens.”—Matt. 6:9.
That raised a question in our minds about the rosary, which involves repeating particular prayers many times, especially a prayer to Mary called the “Hail Mary.” In view of what we had been learning from the Bible, it dawned on us that prayers to Mary and “saints” could not be pleasing to God.
Moreover, Jesus himself showed that God does not favor repetitious prayers, when he said: “But when praying, do not say the same things over and over again, just as the people of the nations do.” (Matt. 6:7) What does the rosary involve, if not saying the same thing over and over again? As for calling Mary “ever Virgin,” did you know that she gave birth to several children after Jesus? We read at Matthew 13:55, 56: “Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us?” To us this was quite a revelation.
