Keep up your imune system. By: eating good foods/plenty of fruits and veggies, whole grains etc. take the correct vitamins. (don't eat much sugar, or any foods you are alergic to.) and make sure you are getting enough sleep. Those are some of the most important things to do if you don't want to get sick.
Ok, one more thing: the washing you hands thing isn't going to help you that much. I know people are obsessed with it and think you will DEFINTLY get sick if you don't wash them all the time, but read up about germs and how you get sick etc. Most of the bugs that people worry about catching are airborn. So washing your hands is not going to protect you from them.
I'm not saying washing you hands is a bad idea or anything, I'm just saying don't be a germ freak and worry about not touching things in public places like buttons for elevators, escalator handles/ door handles/ railings etc. Wash your hands when they feel dirty to you. Just know that general sicknesses are airborn. So the best way to defend against them is to keep your body in good condition by puting into it the right things. Your body has it's own disease fighting methods, just keep it in shape so those can do their job and you should be fine.
:)
Also..... look up the lifetime of germs. germs can get onto inamimate objects, but most can't live there very long. So this whole disinfectant wipe thing, is really overrated. I have seven family members living in my house. We don't go around disinfecting things when someone gets sick. And it doesn't just spread through the house like a plague or something when someone does get sick because most of us "keep our bodies/imune systems up".
Basically it's like this: if your body is weak, (you are tired/havn't been eating healthy foods). you will be much more suseptible to any sickness that is being passed around. but if you are strong(refer to earlier/getting enough rest etc.) your body will naturally fight off those pesky little bacteria/germs trying to "infest" you. :)
Hope some of this helped!
If you feel like you are getting sick, then drik some vitamin C.
(8 oz. is plenty of Orange Juice to get 100% of your vitamin C intake for a day, though you could have a little more if you think you are getting sick) Your body can only break down a small amount of the vitamin C a day, so drinking 32 oz. of Orange Juice isn't going to be much different than drinking just 8. Because very quickly, your body starts just sending the vitamin C through you, and you just pee it out pretty much the same way it came in and don't get anything from it. (so a little is fine, is what I'm trying to say)
Drink lots of water. lay off the sweets and dairy products.
MAKE SURE you are getting enough sleep, ESPECIALLY since you think you are getting sick already.
Another good thing to take is: Liquid Silver. It sounds really weird, but it's great for you! You can probably buy some at most vitamin/health stores. (we order ours from off the internet.) You take a teaspoon a day. It helps prevent, and get rid of sickness. If we think we are getting sick, we just take that for the next week, and usually the feeling (sore thoat/runny nose whatever) goes away by the second or third day of taking it.
Ok.. I think that's all I have to say.... :) lol now that I've typed a book for you! lol

Avoid close contact with people who are sick. If you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick, too.
If poss, stay home frmm work, scheool and errands when you are sick. You will help prevent others from catching your illness.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughhing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from getting sick.
Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs. Gedrms are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose or mouth.
A multi-vitamin could help a person suffering a deficiency feel more energized, sleep better and protect against diseases, he said.
Strict vegans or people who do not intake many animal products also have specific vitamin needs, such as Vitamin B-12.

Wash your hands frequently, especially before eating. Try not to touch your face a lot. Keep taking vitamins. If you are around sick people, take Airborne, and try to get a lot of rest. There is no fool-proof method for preventing sickeness though. Just take care of yourself. You may also want to consider a flu shot.
*If you already feel sick, take some Zicam (pharmacy/Target/Wal-Mart) every four hours. It should reduce the severity and length of your cold.

There are various things to do to prevent yourself from getting sick and catching germs...
Airborne is a very beneficial medication that you can purchase over-the-counter. I believe you take this daily and it aids in building up your immune system especially for the winter season.
Of course, there are the standard things of washing your hands and not sharing things with other people.
Another suggestion is a probiotic, which you can also obtain over-the-counter. It is a multi-vitamin that not only aids with your immune system but can also help with digestion. Personally, that has really helped for me because I used to get sick all the time.

1. wash your hands ALOT. And do it vigorously for at least 20-30 seconds. Or use a hand sanitizer. 2. disinfect your house with sanitizing spray or wipes if someone in the house is sick. Especially common areas. 3. try to keep your hands away from your mouth, eyes and nose. 4. get a good nights sleep.5. practice good hygiene. and lastly get a good balanced diet with plenty of excersize.
sometimes you just can't prevent it. but if you do these things it will definately lower your chances.
Also.. here's a good article to read. http://www.bodyofwealth.com/entry/germiest-places-around-the-house/

STAY AWAY FROM PEOPLE! Seriously though, keep your hands clean and try to avoid people who are obviously sick. the other major factor will be your vitamin C intake. the better your immune system, the less likely you are to get sick.
EDIT: if you feel like you're getting sick now, take 2 vit C pills right away and 2 every day for 1 week. should nip the problem in the bud.

I found the following really effective and rarely get sick anymore.
First pray - I'm a Christian.
Next - start taking echinacea tablets and buy a juicer to make carrot juice. 2 cups a day.
Give up the cow's milk and drink soya instead. The soya should be long term. I found throat and nose mucous virtually disappeared after switching to soya.
Last drink heaps of water
Cheers

wear a hat if you are in a winter climate. I swear, I was coming down with a MAJOR flu about a month ago. I was in bed for a weekend, and then always wore a hat, even indoors for about a week. I never did get really sick.
