Can regular karaoke CD's be played on a PS2?

I do have some ps2 karoake games, but wanted to expand the song selection by possibly picking up some non ps2 karaoke discs.

if its a DVD or CD that plays in a DVD player then it playsin the PS2
but id suggest just getting singstar for PS2 karaoke

The most popular karaoke disc format is the CDG which is not video and has nothing to do with DVD. PS2 might play CDG discs but you'll just have to try it to be sure. I know Sega Saturn plays them.
