Well, think about this one. We are on a website that requires us to write in English. All English speaking nations that I know of are overwhelmingly Christian. Those who are most comfortable writing in English have mostly grown up around Christianity.
Christianity is not only the most popular religion in the world, it is the religion OF the most powerful. We live in democratic countries where it is important that the people make informed decisions. And we know that what people do affects us all.
Christians try to pass laws that affect us all - such as eliminating abortion; or having their religion enshrined in our documents, and buildings; restricting the rights of gays; and trying to put religion in our schools.
Look also at President Bush... the man said he was told by God to invade Iraq. Apocalyptic Christians may be all to happy for the next nuclear war to come along (do we really want them in charge of our weapons?).
The truth is, Christians affect us the most so it is them we wish to educate.
If you wish to know more about the damage that religion causes, I suggest you read "The End of Faith," and "Letter to a Christian Nation" by Sam Harris as well as "God is not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything" by Christopher Hitchens.
PS, I would work on your grammar and spelling a bit.

Most people that use Y!A live in countries where the dominant religion is Christianity. Christians in the US seek to legislate their superstitious nonsense. How would you like to pledge allegiance to Zeus?
Furthermore, the majority of religious people on Y!A are Christian. When the occasional Muslim comes along, I'm sure they're not immune to criticism from the resident atheists - The thing is, you don't notice it because it's infrequent and secondly, it's not your religion. You apparently suffer from a persecution complex.
Also, atheism is not a religion. Let me break it down for you - Atheist simply means non-theist. There is nothing that atheists have in common besides a lack of belief in god(s). You are an atheist regarding Zeus. Would you say that your lack of belief in Zeus is a religion? No, so don't be so disingenuously asinine.
Oh, another reason Christians get 'bashed' on Y!A is because they consistently say stupid things. Perhaps they should think before they post...?
EDIT: You are incredibly simple - Atheism is not synonymous with evolution. After all, the Catholic Church and the majority of Christians in places other than bible-belt America accept the theory. Conversely, not all atheists accept the theory. Perhaps, if you are so against the ToE you should refrain from eating modern species of edible plants such as broccoli , stop using biotechnologies that rely on the theory to produce antibiotics etc

I do not understand how athiesm can be a religion when they do not believe in anything. Christianity is a religon and they follow a God and worship Him
People are free to say what they think and see if they can get answers and find what they looking for and maybe even have a little fun along the way.

It's because Christians are the ones p1ssing everyone off on here. I don't hear Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, etc. trying to kill each other due to religion. It's only the Christians who are doing it (and atheists are only defending themselves most of the time.)
And please, atheism is not, I repeat: IS NOT!!! a religion. It is a lack of religion and a non-belief in any deity. Not all atheists believe in the big bang, evolution, etc. Only a majority do. Sorry to bust your bubble. Besides, faith takes a lack of evidence, said theories outlined above have evidence, more so than most of Christianity.
Atheists mainly bash Christians as a way of self-defense, and as preemptive strikes. However, when we "bash" it is actually just criticizing them, which they take to be "prosecution and another thing from the Bible came true." -rolls eyes-

In anthropology, a religion is a system with two features:
1.) A creation myth -- a story that interrelates man, nature, and the god(s).
2.) A moral structure -- usually in some way founded on the creation myth.
Atheism is one thing: the idea there is no deity.
Atheism does not have a creation myth -- there is no deity for it to interrelate. Atheism does not have an intrinsic moral structure (that is not to say atheists are immoral -- only that their morality does not arise from their atheism).
Care to explain to me then in what sense atheism is a religion then?

Atheism is not a religion. Get real.
Chrsitianity is widelt reviled because it has the highest death toll of any religion. In just one instance - the Spanish Inquisition - 112 million were murdered by the church for not believing.
In Middle Age Europe many countries allowed the Christian church the right to pass the death penalty on those it did not like.
And from what I can see at least in spirit modern Christians are just the same.

Point 1, try as hard as you like, but atheism is not a religion.
Point 2, I (as well as most other atheists I know) bash Islam, Buddhism, Sikhism, Hinduism, and all other mythologies equally. If you had the foresight to belong to all those, you'd realize this. Now stop whining.

Because far to many so-called Christians use apostrophes to make plurals. They should be spanked every time they do it.
Oh and atheism is not a religion. It has no organisation, no rules, no beliefs. It is the non-belief in gods. Anyone can be an atheist.

As an atheist I feel I can "bash" any religion I like without fear of prejudice. All "people of faith" are at best merely deluded, at worst bigoted and dangerously manipulative. I take no "joy" in my crusade. I only stand against ignorance, superstition and sectarian hatred.

Where is there joy? I find no joy in frustration. People state their opinions- who says you cannot say something good or bad about anything?
I don't think it's 'bashing christians' I think it is frustration in regard to people who have not taken the time or put the effort in to find out and understand what and who they are worshiping.
