If you have to get on the computer to ask if you should go to the doctor, the pencil is really the least of your problems!

Chances are, you'll end up with a piece of graphite in your hand for a while...there's certainly no lead in pencils anymore.
If the pencil goes through the muscle tissue, or if you can't move your hand appropriately, you should check with a doctor...You might need to have something stitched back together (and it's probably a good idea to sterilize the wound).

What do you mean, "through" your hand? If you can see it on the other side, obviously, you need to be in the emergency room. If it's just a flesh wound, clean it and put a bandage on it. You should be fine. If you're worried about "lead" in the pencil, pencils don't contain lead, they contain graphite. It won't hurt you.

Puncture wounds like that are very susceptible to infection, so you would want to make sure it is cleaned out very, very well. The best way to do this would be to go to a doctor. he will also give you a tetanus shot.

Yes, I would at least call a doctor, or go to Emergency because OW that would hurt. Not much we can do to help.

It's happened to me twice - no emergency - take the lead tip out, clean with hydrogen peroxide and bandage it up.

if a piece broke off, be prepared to have a black spot there for the rest of your life.
you won't get lead poisoning because pencils aren't made out of lead, they're made out of wood and graphite.
