I have just bought an 80GB PS3 and am wondering if I should hook it up to my HDTV with HDMI or component cables. I own a 37" Vizio, LCD HDTV (1080i) and I can't decide which ones to buy and I don't want to spend $100 on anything that could be nearly as good for $40...some help?

Right now HDMI is the only way to get pure Digital Signal... 1080p and sharp images look the best using HDMI.

Component is good but it's still analog, the best picture rez is 720p over component.

HDMI is the best connection there is currently. Just don't spend $100 on the cables. If you look, you can find good HDMI cables for more like $15.

The HDMI cables are going to be the best cables to use.

The component cables are very good as well. If you decide to get the component cables, just get the Sony component cables that are made for the PS3. They cost just 20.00 and they have gold-plated connectors as well.

HDMI is the best because it is a direct digital connection and it also sends audio all in one cable

component sends 3 analog signals and the tv has to convert them to digital in order for it to come up on the tv and it has 2 additional wires for audio so there are 5 cables in all

so therefore HDMI is the best wire because it is faster and digital connection
