Please ignore Maya - she has to get one anti Israel rant in each day else they have to put her back in the padded cell where she usually lives.

Israel is fab; I went onto a kibbutz for several months; there was a great big group of us, from all over the world and it was an education, and great fun!

I also know many, many people who went with a tour group; they seem to make friends for life on these things! I think you will have an amazing time!

Will you be spending any time in Jerusalem? It's really special there :)

Have a great trip. Shalom :)

I have been on tour groups to Israel and other countries and I found them all very fun. I think you will find it that way as well.

Good Luck!!!

BTW - Maya seems to have some deep psychological issues of such a type that I for one will now be blocking her. As a high school teacher I am very concerned about the type of teacher she is. Its just scary to read the messages she leaves. I am use to the bonehead remarks of others - but from a high school teacher who claims she is the mother of two - she isn't well.

If you think you would have enjoyed the American Deep South in the 1930's when lynchings were an everyday occurance or South Africa under apatheid, you will surely relish this pseudo-state. Watching peole being beaten, threatened and told to move on because of their ethnicity is not everyone's idea of a pleasant experience. I did go with a guided tour but I quickly dropped out since the tour guides obviously worked for the government directly or indirectly; in any event, the purpose was to "guide" U.S. tourists to what they wanted them to see and away from anything that might reflect the appalling social reality of Palestine under brutal military occupation by former European jews who think they are a Master Race destined to rule the world. We were taken to see a model farm up in the Golan Heights for example, but when I slipped away to take photos of a blasted-to-the-ground Syrian village nearby I was handled very abruptly and forcefully. Palestine under apatheid should be seen but you should not go with a tour. See it on your own and keep your American I.D. well in hand at all times - particularly if you have a somewhat dark complexion.
