Everything has to be perfect and if it isn't she doesn't consider just cleaning it up, she throws a fit. I'm going to her house for christmas with my new six week old baby girl and husband. How do i not step on her toes? I'm very careful and friendlly but it seems like she just sits around waiting for me to make a mistake.

Oh dear, my congratulations on your baby, and condolences on your MIL. Can you and your husband stay in a hotel, and just "visit" from time to time? I would recommend being very friendly, but absolutely minimizing the amount of time you spend with her. You will never make her happy, and yes, she prolly is just sitting around waiting for you to make a mistake, bc that's what OCD ppl do. You are supposed to be a mind-reader to do it her way - and to figure out what that way is and do it perfectly. Crazy, you know! Try to remember that she has mental health problems - and don't take seriously what she says/does, because she is clearly not right but can't help it. LOL, maybe your husband can get her on Prozac. Try to let your husband take as much of the lead as possible.

I would ask your husband to stand beside you. I would just try to get along with her - let things she says go in one ear and out the other. So waht if she has different views on child raising than you. If you don't agree, kindly say that you have a system in place and don't want the kids to get into different habits and would just appreciate her going with your plan vs. taking care of them in her own way.

just be the bigger person and deal with her cause believe me no matter how you put if you say something your husband will prolly go on the defensive cause you talking about his mom blah anyways at the end of the day you have your cute little bundle of joy to take away all the crazy

Where on Earth is your HUSBAND???? He's the one to stand up and deal with her--OR you can then demure from going to her Chrismas time!!!! Have nothing to do with her and tell your husband that you can't deal with her--that if he wants to be with his mother--that's fine--but not with you and the baby!!! OR, for brief lunch times, out of the home. Good luck! Deal with it NOW or you'll be in-for-it for YEARS!!
