He sounds very immature, like he gets his identity from what friends think of him. Now if he knew they all thought you were cool, that might change his tune: but the writing is on the wall now, so you know he is impressionable and vascillates according to the climate his friends present. He needs to grow up, and you need better than that. You deserve to be treated well, and dont settle for less. That is just plain unkind, so I would make myself scarce in his scene unless he really changes and affords you the basic dignity and respect you DESERVE!

Maybe he doesn't like the way you act when his friends are around. Just ask him why. But if he just doesn't like you to be around his friends, maybe he is ashamed of you or doesn't think his friends like you. You can really only be yourself. I'd dump him.

I would tell him that if he can't be honest with his friends around, perhaps he actually is just using you and doesn't really like you. Tell him he either admits he likes you to everyone, OR he needs to find another girlfriend because you'll be gone.

Young guys sometimes do this. It's because they're embarrassed 'cause they get teased by their mates.
And - it's perfectly okay for you to say "You're telling people you don't like me. If you're not proud to be with me, then maybe we shouldn't be together."
