I would like to pay them all off and then just carry one maybe 2. How do i get rid of 1 or 2 of them once they are paid off without hurting my credit? Should I just cut them up, cancel them???

Pay them all off except one. Be sure it has no annual fees. Call the other two and close the accounts. Keep the one open, as an emergency. Charge one tank of gas each year, but pay it when the statement comes.

Dave's a great source of advice, but I believe everyone should have one card with a generous limit, no balance, just in case you need an emergency plane ticket or car repair.

Call the number on the backs of the cards you want to cancel, and tell them you are cancelling. Then cut them up. Your credit rating should not be affected unless you had problems before. You might be happier with a check card instead of a credit card, but you have to have a balance in your checking account to cover any usage.

Once you get them paid off, why don't you simply use them for everyday things you would normally pay cash for and pay them off in full every month before the due date.

This way you don't pay interest, have a paper-trail of your spending, do not have to carry large amounts of cash around increase your credit score and get to use someone else's money for 30-days.
