I just got done with my tour in Benning as an Airborne Instructor. Yeah the other poster is right, what exactly does he do on Benning? Our days were a little long, but fun. If he is just a normal Infantryman and not a specialized instructor or officer, he probably is in 3ID on Kelley Hill. That is the mechanized brigade that is stationed on post. The way most normal units work is PT from 6:30am till 7:30 or 8:00. A formation at 9:00am to start normal business like cleaning the barracks, weapons maintenance, working on the Bradleys (their armored vehicle) among other tasks to prepare for deployments & field training. Lunch from 11:30 to 1:00pm. More of the same in the afternoon till around 5:00pm and off till the next day. Weekends & holidays off...and usually plenty of "training holidays" (unit commender designated days off), unless he has a 24 hour staff or CQ (Charge of Quarters) duty for that off day.

However, he would be in the field quiet abit training for war. Doing that you will likely still be on Benning, but in the woods 24/7 for a few days to a couple or weeks at a time.

You need to be a lot more specific. What is a day like for infantry recruits at sand hill, what is the day like for those troops in Airborne School, Ranger School, soldiers in the 3rd ID, or the 75th Ranger Bat there. Trust me their days are radically different.

Ft. Polk 68 Tigerland undescribable but hell could be no worse. VN 101 Abn infantry Hue-Phu Bai. pure hell. Son, stay in school, get a degree, looking for adventure go join a urban police department and you actually make more money and stay home at Christmas and Thanksgiving. Think about it

Well, when I was there we got up at 6:00, did PT (running, etc), ate, did training till lunch. Ate Lunch, then did more training till about 5:30. Ate again. After eating we cleaned up our common areas, cleaned out equipment, and wrote letters till 9:30, which was lights out. This was Basic Training for Infantry soldiers.
