Loosing a pound a week is a perfectly reasonable goal as long as this is where your body WANTS to be. If being that thin is not so much the norm for you, it will be more difficult, but probably still something you could pull off.
Make sure you do some strength training every other day so you do not loose muscle mass or tone, which will come in handy as a life guard.
Eat carefully, six small times a day, IF you are hungry. And water, water, water - you cannot really drink too much now, and your body will need it to process all of the waste and fat you are hoping to burn off, and to keep your lean muscle happy. If you wait until you are thirsty to drink, you are too late ans dehydration has already begun, as far as your body is concerned, even though you are not dehydrated enough to have any real symptoms.
Cardio workout is a must to burn fat - swimming counts! On days that you add strength training, do that first, then cardio - so your muscles are not too tired to perform the weight tasks properly, which could lead to injury.

Eat freshly prepared food with only a little meat and dairy products and lots of vegetables and fruit. By lots I mean as much as you can get down you.
Then exercise by walking or pedalling everywhere and by swimming (useful training for a lifeguard). Don't waste time going to the gym - its too boring to keep up for 21 weeks. Use the time instead for walking or pedalling everywhere.
The exercise will increase your appetite which will need to be satisfied with more fruit and vegetables rather than canned drinks, chocolate or other snacks. Raw carrots and fruit make good snacks.
Do these things and you will find life more fun and that you will have more energy for other activities. The weight will fall off at more than a pound a week and your fitness will be evident in your looks. You will find it so rewarding that there will be no going back to poor diet and lack of exercise.
Best wishes

you have plenty of time to get slim. All you need to do is find out how many calories you eat a day and then eat around 300 calories less and exercise at least 30 minutes a 3-5 times a week. Eat healthy though, but don't be afraid to eat sweets if you eat them sometimes. Work out really hard and you'll maybe lose more than 25 pounds because you should lose 1-2 pounds a week.

Yes very easily, the average weight loss when following a healthy eating plan and doing reasonable exercise is 2lbs per week. So logic tells you that in 21wks you could expect to lose at least 35lbs. Increase your fruit and veg intake, cut out ALL junk, eat pasta without rich sauces, substitute meat with a vegetarian alternative or eat only very lean meat that has been oven or grill cooked, do not add "fats" to your cooking, eat BREAKFAST, a healthy cereal with semi or skimmed milk, and some toast with a low fat spread, do not snack, eat three meals a day, try never to eat after 6pm. Walk up stairs rather than using the lift, do not sit for more than an hour without doing something "physical". It is not a diet it is a complete change of lifestyle and attitude. You really Are what you eat. Good luck x I know you will do it.

Where you carry the weight will make it difficult, but it is doable. First, think 5 mini meals, not 3 meals. Don't skip meals, that freezes your metabolism setting your efforts back. No sugar..........period......drat, and it's the Holidays. No white bread, pasta, white potatoes......in fact if it is white, avoid it...except for fish and chicken. Milk only skim and only once a day. No cheese.
Meat no more than 2, that's right 2 ounces at a time. (think poultry and fish way before red meat....if you can do red meat once or twice a week...great) The other two ounces you eat as your midmeal snack along with a fruit or vegetable. Two salads a day (if you can do it without dressing wonderful, otherwise the WW trick is to dip your fork into the dressing then the salad...not vise versa), your protein at every meal, fruit but not to excess, yellow or green veggies. If you can limit your bread to 2-3 slices whole wheat per day, great! Lots and lots of water.......80 ounces, no juice (eat the fruit instead). No diet sodas or just one...Diet Rite, has no sodium. And of course, swim, run, walk.....just don't sit on your butt. You can't spot exercise away pounds.......that's what I was hinting at at the beginning, but you can stregthen what you have which will support any remaining excess fat more pleasingly.
Of course you could join WW.......

You are the only one who can. You have to be devoted to the cause. There are literally hundreds of plans out there that will help you do this. To do this you only have to loose 19 ounces or 1 lb 3 oz per week. A very doable task. You didn't say what your age, height, sex , or anything else about you, so I am going to have to guess. I am assuming 14 yr , female, and 5'5'' tall.
Don't go overboard, you could do real damage to your still growing system. It is possible that part of this is hormonal, if that is the case only time will take care of that side. Some of it may be eating habits. Look at what, and how much you are eating, maybe you will have to cut back. Part may be from excercise, or lack of. One suggestion, you can go to your lacal library and check on various diet books. One that I might recommend is the one by Dr. Phil. There is usually no perfect answer, it may take a combination of things, that is why I suggested the Dr. Phil book.pp

It depends. If you're a lifeguard, you're probably slim as it is, so even though it seems like you have a lot to lose, your mind is probably exagerating it.
I would shoot for a pound a week (21 pounds total), and keep careful track of the amount of calories you're burning and the amount you're eating. There should be a 500 calorie deficit per day. You can find some calorie counters online.

Yes you can do it...the trick is to burn more calories than you take in...I lost 50 lbs in 12 weeks with just diet and exercise. Make sure all of your drinks are 0 calories (try Coke Zero, Sprite Zero and Diet Dr. Pepper) and of course drink lots of water. For foods stick to Soups & salads or soups and sandwiches. Stay away from fast food joints...they are your enemies when it comes to batteling the buldge!!! As for a workout regimen...get to your local gym (if you have a Planet Fitness... join it...for only $10 a month you can't go wrong!
Get your booty on the elliptical machine and stay on it for 45 min to 1 hour and then incorporate some weight training in to your schedule...lifting weights really gets that weight off!!!! Just remember this has to be a life style change....it's no fad diet!!! Good luck and Get fit! One last piece of advise...watch the show "The Biggest Loser" on NBC, that will give you motivation on days you just don't "feel" like working out!!!

21 weeks is more than enough time to lose a little weight.
Make sure you do it properly though and NOT by starving yourself.
Simple exercise can help, like walking 2-5 miles a day, or a simple 15 minute workout. THe important thing to keep in mind here is to NOT starve yourself. Eating healthy and cutting back on certain "fatty" foods will help you accomplish your goal.
You can easily search for "15 minute workout" online and probably find some free information online on what you need to do.

I doubt you can. Worrying about a little bit of chub here and there doesnt sound like 25 lbs, if you are becoming a lifeguard you probably arent overweight. You might shoot for 5 lbs which is much easier.
