Smoking is the cause of almost 90% of cases of lung cancer. By smoking you increase your lifetime risk of cancer by about 10 times. Don't tempt fate by smoking!

There are many other reasons to stop smoking. It can cause high blood pressure, prematurely ages your skin, contributes to gum disease, wastes money, and can drive off potential mates who can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke!

That is an iffy question. My mom has lung cancer, she smoked for about 45 years up until July 23rd 2007. She had part of her lung removed in August and is now going through chemotherapy. Although her cancer was caused by her years of smoking, it has also been proven that second hand smoke is just as lethal for you too. I use to be a smoker, but I haven't smoked in 5 years, and I am 40 years.
Good luck with your decision.
Another thing, next time your out driving somewhere watch people that are driving, and they have a cigarette hanging out of their mouth, I learned that I didn't want to kiss an ashtray.

Lung cancer, if you get it, may not be the worst thing caused by smoking. Heart disease is the number one killer of smokers.

Then there is the chance of getting what I consider the most horrible disease from smoking - emphyzema. Imagine dying slowly as your ability to breathe fades away. This can go on for years before you die, and bankrupt your family.

I would not want to risk putting myself or my loved ones through that.

Don't find out. There is nothing to be gained from smoking, except a lighter wallet and poor health. It's possible that you'll get it, or any number of cancers or other diseases. Don't do it.

If its not lung cancer that you get it will be emphesema (sp?) and other deteriorating respitory conditions. Do yourself and everyone else favor and quit. Be a good example to Americas Youth!
