I don't have insurance and I know that eye exams are probably different but an estimate would be nice. I don't know if they're around 50 bucks to 200 bucks or 300 bucks to 500 bucks... So any information would be nice :] I'm trying to order some contacts online but they need an uptodate prescription and mine is a year in a half old. thankk you!

Probably around 50-60 dollars depending on where you go, and where you live.

Contact lenses, no matter how well they fit, feel and correct your vision affect the amount of oxygen being let in to your eye and can lead to potential eye health issues. A visit to the doctor is nescessary to avoid complications. Although a full comprehensive eye exam is recommended, you can renew your contact lens prescription alone by scheduling a contact lens fitting (also known as a "contact lens evaluation") through an optometrist. For previous wearers of contacts, a contact lens "re-fit" can be a term used to describe the procedure. Depending on the provider and other various factors, you may need to have a full comprehensive eye exam along with your fitting. Pricing will vary depending on the provider. Through some providers, a contact lens fit may cost more than a routine eye exam, and through others the fit may be less. The cost of the fit may also vary depending on the complexity of the lenses that you require. A "re-fitting" fee (renewal of your existing prescription) for those who have worn contacts before is suppose to be less costly compared to the fee for a first time wearer. With all these factors, the price range for a contact lens fitting can range from $25 to $200.

Tip: try an independent doctor of optometry located in a Walmart vision center

I just booked an exam and it'll cost me $95.

Like the others said, phone around. You may find some slightly seedy eye doctor in a 3rd floor walk-up office who charges a lot less.

If you just need a prescription for glasses, some opticians in some jurisdictions are allowed to use autorefractors to perform sight tests. It's a good idea to have a proper eye exam periodically, though, since there are serious eye diseases which a basic sight test won't detect (until it's too late).

Wal Mart charged me $102.00 for the eye exam and the contacts for a six month supply.
Call a few places and ask. Also check to see if you have an America Contacts and Eyeglasses around your area; They advertise $69.00 for the exam and two pairs of glasses or contacts.

How can you have a prescription from before and not know how much an exam is? It's typically $100 to $150, but you should already know that.
