I completed everything that I can do. How much longer until I get my green card. I am trying to join the US ARMY is there a way for them to speed the process up?

Depending on your location an I-485 can take up to 12 months. However, it can be rejected if you did not process an I130 prior to applying for the I-485. No, no way to speed up the process unless you can go to your congressioal representative and get them involved.

just out of curiosity -
why are you trying to join the army??? (been there done that - it's to crazy now and the gov isn't taking care of the vets when they get home)

do yourself a favor - do not sign anything until talking with vets - older ones, newer ones, vets for peace, disabled vets, vets from the american legion, and take whatever they want you to sign to a lawyer first!

I got screwed out of my GI bill money, and I've know vets who have been given the runaround with med care until they died (agent orange, depleted uranium, PTSD) and vets who have had problems getting other promised benefits as well. I also have known vets who had good expierances - so talk to as many as you can before signing because once you do - they own your a**! you can't even go get a tattoo without risking a article 15 for destruction of army property if it gets infected!

that said - have you talked to a recruiter about joining? you don't have to be an american to join you know...

I know someone who waited 3 years. I think it depends on a few things: one would be how backed up they are with applications, and another would be how many times they "lose" your fingerprints or photos. They lost my friend's fingerprints twice and that slowed down the process.

no, they don't expedite applications. they process them as they receive them... first come first served basis. you just have to wait.
