I was driving on the freeway in California when I was rear-ended. This caused me to rear-end the car in front of me. (I was at a stop when this occurred). I wasn't sure if I was at fault for rear-ending the car in front of me or if the car behind me is at fault for both my car and the car in front of me? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The person that rear ended you would be at fault for this loss.

Two incidents occurred here. You were hit from behind, and you hit the vehicle in front of you. The person who rear-ended you is responsible for the damage to the rear of your vehicle. You are responsible for the damages to the front of your vehicle and the rear of the vehicle in front of you because you were too close to the car in front of you.

it is not considerable why or how or the type she stopped. you are able to no longer basically rear end somebody because of the fact they did no longer stop the type you theory they'd desire to stop. regardless, basically the in contact coverage firms, can, do and could confirm "fault". turn it in and that they'll quickly enable you realize who replaced into at fault.

You and the one behind you should be at fault. i would punch the guy who hit you unless it was slippery. Especially if they were on there phone or putting on make up or reading a book i would just nail em.

You failed to render proper distance between you and the car in front of you, so you are at fault for hitting them.

I think technically you will be considered responsible for hitting the car in front of you. Talk to your insurance company.
