No.............the nearest I have come to that situation is that the daughter of a work colleague was murdered by her partner. He was convicted. A young child was left and a custody battle ensued on top of all the other trauma. We were very upset for the mother/father and family left behind but that was only a smidgeon compared with the updates we got from the mother about the effect on her, her husband, the child and the sister.

yes my Aunt mother of 6 children was murdered on New Years Eve by a man who thought she was his wife. They were out celebrating with "friends" and the women went to the powder room and when they came out and sat down at the table preparing to leave the "friends" husband pulled out a knife and cut my Aunts throat and killed her. The intended person was shocked and is now in a mental home and the man who killed my aunt is in prison. But only for 15 years as it was declared a wrongful death not murder because he didn't intend to kill my Aunt. My cousins were all raised by their grandmother and my mother and one other Aunt. Their lives have never been easy and one of them committed suicide. Our family will never forget or really forgive this man. Her husband was not the children's father so that is why he didn't raise the children.

Yes - tragically I have lost someone like that. It's horrible because you just don't know what to think and having Police enquiries, corenors reports, inquests and autopsies is an awful trauma on top of trying to grieve for the loved one you lost. My heart goes out to the family xxxx

Our friends were going to meet us for my birthday about 20 years ago, when they didn't show up by midnight, we left and went home.
In the morning my mother-out-law called to say that Jim and Andrea had been murdered!
It was a good thing we were going to meet at the club, we could have been there!
The case was never solved. Jim was so funny and Andrea was beautiful with a voice that was FAB! I miss them both very much.

One of my family was murdered in a street near my home for a couple of pounds. The hurt never goes away but you learn to live with it and time does make it easier.

Funny you should ask this, a business associate of mine was found murdered in a hotel just last weekend, she was a mother of two and a really nice person. A lot of people are very shocked at this, it was so sudden and unexpected.

I would hope no one would have to go through that. My family is living and I still worry about them every day. Bad things happen to good people and it is a shame.
