Here is how it works. Some EXPERIANCED breeder do inbreed, but when they do it is after tons of research and it has been carefully planned--- often years in advance, and I have never heard of a breeder planning on breeding littermates. Just not a good idea.

If you are going to breed your dog, or plan on breeding then you need to hook up with a mentor as soon as possible! Most people work under a mentor for years before even attempting their first litter.

Better get to it!

PS> If you don't know the answers to simple questions like inbreeding, I would hope that you would wait until you are a pro and have someone supervising you to start breeding. It is probably best just to spay and neuter your pets, however, because those puppies really aren't necessary with so many APT in the world and so many shelter dogs.

Dont contribute to diseased puppies or BYB profits .
And no its not a good idea to breed dogs from the same litter together . Its called in-breeding and it can diseases to spred throughout the puppies or can cause genetic defects . That is the #1 problem with this breed and dogs today. There are too many puppmillers and BackYard Breeders trying to cash in on the pups and do not give a damn about health or tempermant . The pups get sold but the tempermant from the parents are very unstable and are passed on through puppies . So like i said , do not breed dogs from the same litter together , its not only sick , its cruel to people . There are too many pits in the shelters and rescues as is . So just spay/neuter them .

When line breeding you really need to research the dogs pedigre's. You need to make sure there are more benefits to the breed by doing this. Not just because you have a male and female dog. There are many things that can go wrong with the puppies even with researching their lines. You can get some genetic defects and bad temperment.

If you are serious about this breeding then you really need to find a good breeder that will help you determine if mating your dogs is a good choice or not.

If you mean litter-mates, then no it would not be a good idea to breed them, leave that to the experts who do inbreeding to set certain characteristics and check the line for certain flaws that will manifest in a close breeding. This is a true art not for beginners but for those willing to keep the best representatives of dominant characteristics only if the line is predominantly free of recessive flaws that are being carried generation to generation. Spay and neuter and BUY a pup from a reputable breeder only.

Two things....

1. Yes, it would be bad, it would be inter-breeding, and that could cause problems.

2. Have you SEEN the number for APBTs in shelters & rescues? There's more of the dogs than there are responsible owners. Do you really want to risk your future puppies to wind up in the wrong hands, in a shelter, or euthanized? Don't bring more into a world that isn't 'friendly' to them.

I love the breed, but I wouldn't add more to the world right now, when the ones already here aren't getting the homes they deserve.

OMG! Please just sign your poor dogs over to a rescue! Are you kidding me, would you have babies w/ one of your family members! UGH!

This is why pit bulls are constantly being put down in shelters all over the US. And Pit Bull rescues are always getting new dogs. Because people breed and breed their dogs, don't care what type of home they are getting, as long as they get their money! Their is NO reason to breed your dogs at all. I'm not big on breeding just any dog. Champion blood lines, and other great traits have to be past down. But 9 times out of 10 people just breed to make money and it's insane!

Every one needs to stop supporting back yard breeders and start going to rescues and shelters instead!

When you say they both come from the same family, do you mean that they are full brother-sister? If they are, yes, it is bad to do an inbreeding. You bought your dogs for companionship, not to breed them and sell the puppies for profits.

well..........if you have to ask, then yes it would be bad.

some breeders inbreed or linebreed. but usually show people who are very careful and study genetics and are looking for a certain trait to come out in the pups. usually those people are also willing to keep all the pups and don't breed for money.

anyway, for you..........yes it is bad and so i would suggest you don't do it. having puppies is hard work, expensive, time consuming and if done right you don't make a lot of money.

YES!!!! This is a bad thing! Do you mean they are related? This is considered imbreeding and this can cause some serious genetic health disorders and diseases to rear to show themselves. PLEASE leave breeding dogs to the professional responsible breeders that have worked their breeding program to be the best it can be.

Yes,
i suppose it'd be the same as a brother & sister having children.
theyll have genetic problems and all different problems, and you wont enjoy your new pups with all the probs they'll have!
just enjoy the dogs you have now, and if u want to brred find a suitable stud.
goodluck
