I had both kids in their toddler beds at 18 mos but it depends on your child's development on safety or not.

I have a 20 month old who moved into a toddler bed at 18 months. I use a side rail to keep him from falling off, even though the bed is low to the ground. I don't think it is too early. As long as she is comfortable sleeping in her bed alone the transition should be smooth...maybe introduce it in an exciting way and let her see it is a positive change.

My son will be 2 in January and I already have him in a regular bed with rails. I think that it just depends on the kid and parents. Are you comfortable with her being in a toddler bed? Or is there a reason - like she is climbing out of the crib? If you can say yes to one of these it minght be worth giving it a try. That being said I go to a parents group and they were amazed that my son would sleep in a regular bed with out having issues like getting up and playing in the middle of the night. They said that they don't start recommending a regular bed till the child is 2.5. I think though that as the parent you have to make the decision that is right for your family. Maybe its right for you to make the change or maybe you just need to give her more time. Do what is right for the child and what feels right to you. Good Luck

My daughter was one when we put her into her own bed mind u it was on the floor for a while but when we finally get her her own bed she was almost 2 its surprising how well they judge how much bed they have before they actually fall off. The side rail is a good idea though. I dont think its to early you will just notice you have a visitor on your side of the bed a little more often

My daughter is 19months but she's been in a toddler bed since she turned a year. I think you should put her in one now... You didn't wait too long or anything (I actually did it a little early but my daughter was absolutely terrified of the crib & slept in a play pen every night).... They say to move them into a toddler bed anytime between 18 & (amazingly) 36 months... but I think waiting until 36 months is a little long... I say she's just the right age right now...

Most of the toddler beds are not very high from the ground so falling out of bed shouldn't be a problem. What I did...I showed my kid the new bed, had her sit on it so she had comfort knowing she could reach the ground with her feet let her climb on and off of it. Then she took a short nap in the bed to make me more comfortable.
Your main consern shouldn't be falling but getting up and out to you up in the morning at night whenever. The good part about the toddler bed and their new freedom is the ability to go to the bathroom at night...no more wet beds and diaper changes.

My daughter just turned 2 in November. She is content in her crib and doesn't try to climb out. She is not potty trained, so I don't see a need to take the front of the crib off yet.
We are working on potty training and once she is more consistent with it and goes into the bathroom by herself, then we will convert the crib to a daybed.

My girls were 18mths when they went into toddler beds..
but I know people that werent ready to leave their freedom of kids in their cribs so they used crib tents and left them in cribs until close to 3

my son was 20m and my daughter was 14m when we put them in their toddler beds... just depends on the kid... my duaghter wanted to sleep in her brothers 'big boy' bed all the time so we set hers up and put a side rail up and she loved it.... stayed in it all the time so it stayed.... if they are interested... move them into one... IF NOT... don't rush it... you just get to fight with them about staying in it.
good luck :)
